This poses both an opportunity and a challenge for people in all age groups. Today’s youngsters have never known the world without the internet. This generation is growing up with their parents requiring to treat them as friends and learn together with them as they don’t respond to top-down command and control approach. The youth have very different expectations from life, jobs and money and have a drastically different outlook from the generations before who are used to a more traditional hierarchy of large corporate firms and long stable careers. While the generational differences have always posed challenges, it has accentuated in the recent times with sharper differences in attitudes, values, beliefs and motivations. These differences easily lead to misunderstanding, miscommunication and even outright conflict in the workplace or at home.

Leading & Co-creating across Generations– Art of Relationships & Influencing

Context: With 60 percent of India’s population below 35 years of age, India is the youngest nation in the world and expected to grow younger.

In this backdrop, it becomes very important, for the Seniors as well as the Youngsters, to learn some of the myths, realities and evolving norms surrounding this emerging inter-generation issues and learn the art of influencing and building relationships across generations. The BCAS Leadership Camp 2016 has been conceptualized to help the participants:

Understand what it means to be human and appreciate similarities and differences between

generations – in attitudes, feelings, behavior- and connect with the heart of it all.

Family - Immediate, Grand Children, Extended family, staff at home Office - Juniors, Colleagues, Supervisors, Bosses, Clients, Customers & other

stakeholders

Handle typical situations where collaboration and empathy are the keys and where conflicts arise.

Become inspiring yet not impinging, caring but not controlling, guiding but not expecting

Understand how to empower today’s youth and equally be inspired by them and harness their energy and passion- to learn together.

Decipher how different generationsand mindsets can learn and leverage from the experience and the wisdom of each other.

CONTENT: To be able to lead across generations in the current times, is to learn the art of building healthy relationships. To be able to co-create. The act of Influencing is essentially the art of Inspiring. And that requires us to listen deeply to ourselves, to the other and to life itself. We will work at 4 levels in this retreat: 1. The Mind of Co-creative Leadership (Thinking): Attitudes and mindsets that bring true power and receptivity, Understanding Response-ability, freedom, deep acceptance, positive intention and the network reality- different from a hierarchical story of the past. 2. The Heart of Co-creation (Feeling): This is the domain of feelings – how to deal with anger, fear, sadness which derail healthy relationships and how to build the skills of deep listening, authentic speaking, enabling wonder and silence- the essence of dialogue and influencing. 3. The Body of Leadership (Action) : This has to do with awakening the connection with body and breath, with an intelligence to act from a place of clarity. This also has to do with understanding the tangible world of time and space. And how it relates to the intangible. And 4. The Spirit of Co-creative Leadership (Being): At the core of each of us is a greatness that lies beyond effectiveness, a power that is very different from force, a beauty and a love that everything springs from. How do we connect with that truth of our being? How may we connect with Source & Presence from which effortless ease flows. PROCESS:

We will be using a variety of experiential and interactive methodologies that make learning come alive. A safe space will be created for us to share deeply and look within with honesty and care. A combination of Energizers, Role Plays, Open Space, deep dialogue and whole body breath and movement will make the methodology of the gathering.
