Please bring picnic rugs, chairs, picnic tea (can buy hamburgers and drinks there), insect repel-lent and donation for the show. For further details please con-tact Donna on 0411 459 367.

“Kind Deeds Change Lives” “Life is Good - Live to Give”

VOCATION VIEW: Lent is a time of being serious about for-giveness and knowing that we too are loved. Who will step for-ward to tell of God’s great love for us?

“For his sake I have accepted the loss of all things and I consider them so much rubbish, that I may gain Christ…” (Philippians 3:8) The first commandment says that we should not put other gods before the Lord. Sharing all of our gifts, our time in prayer, our talent in charitable works and our treasure to support Church needs helps us keep God first in everything. It keeps us from putting other gods before God. It helps us to use our gifts for the glory of God and not for our own honor.

Fifth Sunday of Lent

7th April 2019

Salma was just 18 years old, pregnant and fearful for her life and that of her unborn child, when she featured in Project Compassion 2013. In Bangladesh, maternal and infant mortality rates are tragically high. During her first pregnancy, Salma was very sick and in distress, she sought the help of a midwife trained by Caritas’ Safe Motherhood Program. Six years on, she’s now a healthy mother of two strong, happy children. Salma is committed to giving her children the education they need to provide them with the future she hoped for.

Please donate to Project Compassion 2019 and help reduce infant mortality rates in coun-tries like Bangladesh and provide hope to pregnant women in remote communities for hap-py and healthy families.

Lives change when we all give 100%. You can donate through Parish boxes and envelopes, by visiting www.caritas.org.au/projectcompassion or phoning 1800 024 413.

PROCESSIONAL HYMN

Out of Darkness

Out of darkness God has called us,

Claimed by Christ as God’s own people.

Holy nation, royal priesthood,

Walking in God’s marv’lous light.

Let us take the words you give,

Strong and faithful words to live.

Words that in our hearts are sown;

Words that bind us as your own.

Let us take the love you give,

That the way of love we live.

Love to bring your people home;

Love to make us all your own.

FIRST PENITENTIAL RITE: Confiteor [spoken]

I confess to Almighty God, and to you,

My brothers and sisters, that I have

greatly sinned in my thoughts and in my

words, in what I have done and in what I

have failed to do,

through my fault, through my fault,

through my most grievous fault;

therefore I ask blessed Mary ever-Virgin,

all the Angels and Saints, and you, my

brothers and sisters, to pray for me to the

Lord our God.

Kyrie, Kyrie, eleison. (Twice)

Christe, Christe, eleison. (Twice)

Kyrie, Kyrie, eleison. (Twice)

APOSTLES’ CREED

I believe in God, the Father almighty, Creator of heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died and was buried; he descended into hell; on the third day he rose again from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of God the Father almighty; from there he will come to judge the living and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and life everlasting. Amen. OFFERTORY

Lord To Whom Shall We Go

Lord to whom shall we go?

You are our Bread, broken and shared.

Lord to whom shall we go?

Yours are the words of life.

The manna we ate,

yet our hunger remained;

Our hearts were not satisfied.

O Lord, you feed us

with the finest of wheat,

our pledge of eternal life.

The bread you give

is the living bread,

your flesh for the life of the world.

Your word, O Lord,

is a lamp for my steps;

A light for my path of life.

COMMUNION O How Blessed

O how blessed are the poor in spirit,

The kingdom of God is theirs.

O how blessed those who dwell in sorrow,

They surely will be consoled.

Rejoice and be glad,

beloved of the Lord,

the kingdom of heaven is yours.

The first shall be last,

the last shall be first,

for such is the wisdom of God.

O how blessed are the meek and lowly,

For they shall possess the earth.

O how blessed those who thirst for justice,

They surely will have their fill.

O how blessed are the pure of heart,

For they shall behold God’s face.

O how blessed those who mend

with mercy,

Forgiveness is their reward.

O how blessed those who fight for peace,

The children of God are they.

O how blessed those despised and hated,

Who bear it because of me.

RECESSIONAL: Here I Am, Lord

I, the Lord of sea and sky,

I have heard my people cry.

All who dwell in dark and sin

My hand will save.

I who made the stars of night,

I will make their darkness bright.

Who will bear my light to them?

Whom shall I send?

Here I am, Lord. Is it I, Lord?

I have heard you calling in the night.

I will go, Lord, if you lead me.

I will hold your people in my heart.

I, the Lord of wind and flame,

I will tend the poor and lame.

I will set a feast for them.

My hand will save.

Finest bread I will provide

Till their hearts be satisfied.

I will give my life to them.

Whom shall I send?
