Task 1: Explanation
Bramley Church of England Primary
3
1). Have a good look to see the different themes for each room.
2). Play some of the warm up games – maybe by yourself, with an adult or your siblings.
3). Write an explanation of which room you would like to stay in – focus on explaining your ideas with detail and
description.
Warm up games
Make a list of 10 things you can spot in the picture – if you are playing against someone else, try to find things they
may not have spotted. You could score a point for everything you have that is different.
I Spy… What can you see in this picture? Give them 5 seconds to spot the item – if they don’t get it, you score the
point!
Yes & No game - Choose something in the picture and see if your partner can guess it. They can only ask ‘yes’ or ‘no’ questions – you decide how many questions they’re allowed to ask! Extra Questions to think about Where do you think this treehouse is? Who built it? Who lives in it? Who owns it? Which room would you like to stay in? Once you have chosen your room, think of the reasons WHY you want to stay there. Try to make your explanations
as detailed and descriptive as you can.
Use this planning grid to help, we have included this example to help you add detail to your ideas:
Example - Chosen Room: Library
Room Feature Reason Description
At the top of the house High up and far away from everyone else
Wonderful tranquillity Ignoring the hustle and bustle

Task 3 – History – Different houses through history
1. Read the guidance below.
2. Look carefully at the at flash card example.
3. Choose 3 or more historical eras and research their houses.
4. Create 3 or more flash cards.
Today we would like you to learn about how houses have evolved over time focusing on their structure and
appearance (tomorrow we will look at inside the house).
We would ideally like you to focus your learning on houses in our local area (South England).
You will need to create at least 3 flashcards using the layout given. Here is an example to help you:
Some tips:
When researching remember to write the information in your OWN words.
You can include a picture from the internet or you can draw your own, either is fine.
Try to include as much detail as you can and explain any vocabulary. For example, in the above flash card, the term
‘wattle and daub’ has been explained as some people may not know what this is.
Edit the format below OR recreate it using pencil and paper, again either is fine!
Some key eras you could think about are:
- Romans
- Saxons
- Viking
- Norman
- Tudors
- Georgian
- Victorian
- Modern day

Task 4: Design a house Watch the full lesson on Seesaw
1). Choose one of the characters below to design a house for 2). Plan and draw the house neatly in your book 3). Label the house with any special features you have chosen for your character 4). Upload your design to Seesaw
Things to think about:
You could draw the outside, the inside, a plan of the house and/or a particular room in detail.
Will you choose: olden days, modern or futuristic?
Will you choose: city life, woodlands, wetlands or out of this world?
Will you choose: colourful or dark and gloomy?
Your drawing should have arrows to many different features, explaining WHY you have added that feature for
your chosen character.
Upload a photo of your design with labels to Seesaw

1. Watch the video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UN57vvrMrY4
2. Have a go at the questions below
1. Write whether each shape is regular or irregular. Give reasons next to each shape why it is regular or
irregular.
2.
a) Aaron says that the rectangle below is a regular polygon because all of the angles are right angles. Is he
correct? Explain your answer.
b) What if the shape was a square? Would that be a regular polygon? Explain your answer.

Task 6 – History – Appliances in the Home
1. Read the guidance below.
2. Choose two or more items / areas to learn about.
3. Research through internet and discuss with family and friends.
4. Produce basic timelines to show the evolution of your chosen items.
Think about how our homes have changed overtime on the inside.
Below is a list of suggested items and areas you might want to explore. However, you can choose whatever you
would like. Please choose at least 2 items to learn about!
You will need to research your chosen items. This can be done through the internet, conversations with friends or
families, particularly those who may have used older versions of these in the past or by looking at any old items you
may have at home.
Using what you have learnt, create a basic timeline to show the evolution of your items from past to present day.
Use images and writing to help show off everything you have found out.
Here is an example below to help you:
List of ideas:
Iron , Fridge, Freezer, Washing Machine, Coffee Machine, Heating, TV, Radio, Oven, Computer, Vacuum Cleaner, Dish
Washer.
Few reminders:
• If you use research from the internet please make sure you write this in your OWN words.
• Please remember to present your work NEATLY and CLEARLY.

Task 7: Persuasive Writing - selling your house! Upload your work to Seesaw
Yesterday, you designed the ideal house for your chosen creature. Today you need to convince them to buy it! 1). Plan the most important reasons they should buy your design. 2). Write your persuasive sales pitch – using all of the key skills. 3). Upload your work to Seesaw – this could be a photo of your written work or a photo of your design and then you record your sales pitch over the top. Planning - Choose your 3 best features here:
Feature Reason it is good Convince me!
Example
Huge door way Get in and out easily Easy access to your own home.
Won’t bang your head.
Easy for monster friends to visit
Key Skills for writing
Paragraphing Conjunctions Precise, Persuasive Language
Introduction – why should they read/ listen? 3 main paragraphs – one for each of your ideas Conclusion – what do you want them to do now?
Use a range of conjunctions to help you really explain your ideas. Remember, they can go at the beginning or in the middle of sentences.
although furthermore however in addition as since where as
despite the fact whether in order
, think carefully about your commas to separate clauses
Make your house sound great – with precise language! Telling me ‘ it has an awesome door, brilliant kitchen and fantastic stairway’ – doesn’t actually tell me anything about the house. The delicate flowers around the doorway; the brightly coloured kitchen; the grand, sweeping stairway tells me much more!
Example paragraph: This would be my first main idea after my introduction
When you walk up to this bright, eye-catching house, the first thing you would notice is the
huge oak door! This makes it absolutely perfect for you as you will be able to enter your
grand house with ease every day. Can you imagine having to bend down just to enter your own
home? What a terrible thing that would be. Whether it is to save your back or to avoid
bumping your head, the height is a necessity for you. This vast, sturdy doorway will be a
welcoming entrance if you invite guests into your brand new home for a monster party - they
will also be able to walk in comfortably.
Write your sales pitch neatly in your book, using all of these skills. Then upload your work to Seesaw.

1). Which shape has the most faces?
2). Which shape has the fewest vertices?
3). Which shape has the most edges?
4). Which shapes have the same number of edges?
3D Shape Vocabulary Faces – flat sides of a shape
Edges – sides where 2 faces meet Vertices – corners where 2 or more edges meet
Which of these nets would make a square-based pyramid?

Task 10: Story Writing
1. You will be planning and writing a short story based around a character and their home over the next two
days.
2. Choose one of the four locations to base your story around. Have a think about who might live in the
house you have chosen. Plan out your ideas for your story using the template below.
3. Write a setting description about your chosen location.
What A Good One Looks Like: Setting description
The gloomy, desolate ruin that had once belonged to the richest man in the village nearly a hundred years ago
stood alone in the deepest part of the sinister forest. The pathway up to the house seemed to be guarded by rows
of tall trees, whose wooden fingers appeared to reach out to snare those who were foolish enough to wander too
close to the house. The cold, sharp wind howled through the shattered window frames, making it seem as though
the house itself was moaning and groaning. There had been legends in the village that those who dared step
inside the house, who dared enter its dark chambers and who dared disturb its slumber were never seen of again.
The house had been left alone for decades. No one had gone anywhere near even the forest were the house stood
in years. But then one night, on the coldest day of the year, a light flickered on in one of the rooms.
