Notice to contributorsThe British Journal of Industrial Medicine is intendedfor the publication of original contributions relevant tooccupational medicine, including fundamental toxico-logical studies of industrial and agricultural chemicals.Short papers relating to particular experience in occupa-tional medicine will be considered.Notes and miscellanea will deal with brief observa-

tions relevant to industrial medicine which do notwarrant a full paper, such as individual case histories,preliminary reports or modifications to analyticalmethods. Extended book reviews may also be included.

All papers submitted for publication should be referredto The Editor, British Journal of Industrial Medicine,Department of Occupational Health, University ofManchester, Clinical Sciences Building, York Place,Manchester M13 OJJ.

Papers are accepted on the understanding that theyare contributed solely to this Journal, and that they aresubject to editorial revision. Papers should be prefacedby an abstract of the argument and findings; this abstractshould be more comprehensive than a summary, whichwill not be required. Papers must be typewritten on oneside of the paper only, in double spacing, and with awide margin. Photographs and photomicrographs shouldbe printed on glossy paper and should be unmarked.Charts and graphs accompanying papers should be care-fully drawn in black ink on tracing linen or Bristol boardor stout, smooth, white paper; any lettering should belightly inserted in pencil.References In the text the year of publication inbrackets must follow the author's name. At the end ofthe paper, references should be arranged in alphabeticalorder of authors' names. Such references should givethe author's name, followed by initials and year ofpublication in brackets, the title of the article, thename of the journal in which the article appeared, thevolume number in arabic numerals, followed by thenumbers of the first and last pages of the article. Journalsquoted in the references should be abbreviated accordingto World Medical Periodicals (3rd ed., 1961, W.M.A.).
