ITINERARYDay 1 Depart the U.S. for China. Day 2 Arrive in Beijing, a sprawling cultural and political center, as well as a central base to many fascinat-

ing sites. Few other Chinese cities offer such a concentrated view of ancient and modern China. YourClub ABC Tours representative will meet you at the airport and transfer you to your hotel.

Day 3 Today your guide will take you on a full-day tour of Beijing. Tour the incomparable Forbidden City, hometo two dynasties spanning 500 years. This architecturally stunning 200-acre compound, with morethan 800 buildings and 9,000 rooms, houses a vast collection of imperial treasures and cultural arti-facts. Visit the Summer Palace, home to China's largest imperial garden. You'll also visit Tian'anmenSquare, the world's largest public square, and site of Mao Zedong's Mausoleum and the Great Hall ofthe People. Dinner is on your own tonight.

Day 4 After breakfast at the hotel, explore more Beijing sites with your guide. No visit would be complete with-out an excursion to see the Great Wall, truly one of the greatest feats of human engineering, stretchingnearly 4,000 miles long. Begun in the 7th-century BC, final additions were completed in 16th-centuryAD and originally built to keep out invaders of the north. Lunch is included during the tour. You'll alsosee Mingshisan Ling, or Ming Tombs, a final resting place for thirteen Emperors of the Ming Dynasty(1368-1644 AD). Built into Beijing's scenic foothills, splendidly carved stone animals dramatically linethe road on your approach. Tonight, experience an authentic Beijing treat. Enjoy a traditional PekingDuck Dinner.

Day 5 In the morning, tour a masterpiece of Ming architecture, the Tiantan, or Temple of Heaven, built for Imperial sacrifices conducted during the first lunar month and on winter solstice. After lunch, transferto the airport for your flight to Xi'an, which was an ancient capital of China for eleven dynasties andthe starting point of the famed Silk Road. The cradle of Chinese civilization and inhabited since beforethe Neolithic era, Xi'an lies 35 miles west of the confluence of the Wei and Yellow rivers. Transfer toyour hotel. Dinner tonight is on your own.

Day 6 Today, embark on a full-day tour of the Provincial Museum, displaying more than 2,000 ancient arti-facts reflecting the evolution of Chinese civilization. Visit the amazing underground tomb of EmperorQin Shi Huang; guarded by more than 7,000 life-size terracotta warriors and horses, the tomb is one ofthe world's greatest archaeological treasures. Later in the evening, enjoy a memorable Tang DynastyDinner and Show. Overnight in Xi’an.

Day 7 Fly to Shanghai, China's largest city and former “Paris of the East.” Your Club ABC Tours local guidewill meet you at the airport and transfer you to your hotel. This afternoon, enjoy a guided sightseeingtour, featuring Shanghai's famous waterfront Bund area, to see the many stately buildings of Europeanarchitecture from pre-1949 times. Overnight in Shanghai.

Day 8 After breakfast, enjoy a full-day guided tour, which includes visits to beautiful Yu Yuan Garden, with itsmany halls and pavilions, and the Old City. In the afternoon, visit the Shanghai Museum. Top off theevening with a special Shanghai dinner.

Day 1 Depart New York (JFK) or Washington (Dulles) on South African Airways to Johannesburg.Day 2 Arrive in Johannesburg, where you are met and escorted to your flight to Cape Town, where you

will overnight.Day 3 Today, enjoy a trip up Table Mountain (weather permitting) in a cable car (tickets provided). The revolving

cable cars give stunning views over Cape Town. After, board your coach and begin the city tour, which includes: the historic Malay Quarter and the colorful Bo-Kaap, The Castle, South Africa's oldest building,a slave lodge, and go on a diamond-cutting tour. Visit Victoria & Alfred Waterfront to explore the manyshops, restaurants and craft markets. Tonight, enjoy dinner with a show and musical entertainment.Overnight at the hotel in Cape Town.

Day 4 After breakfast, depart on a half-day Cape Point tour. Travel to Camps Bay, Hout Bay, Constantia Nek,then on to the Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve. You will have the opportunity to see zebra, baboons, avariety of buck and ostrich as well as many sea birds. Ride the funicular or go on foot. Continue to Boulders Beach, where you stop to pay a visit to the penguin colony before returning to Cape Town.Overnight in Cape Town.

Day 5 Enjoy a half-day Winelands tour. While South Africa's fertile valleys are world-famous for their crisp whiteand classic French-style red wines, the Winelands area is also a treasury of rustic beauty and sprawlingestates shaded by giant oak trees. See some of the wine estates that were developed by early settlerswho produced the wines sought after by Napoleon, Bismarck and royalty such as Edward VII. Stop for awine-tasting on an estate, where you will have the opportunity to purchase some of the wines. Overnightin Cape Town.

Day 6 Transfer to the airport for your flight to Johannesburg. On arrival, you are met and transferred by road toHanglip Mountain Lodge at Entabeni, where you dine and overnight.

Day 7 Enjoy a morning game-viewing activity in this spectacular wildlife kingdom. Spend the hottest part of theday relaxing around the pool. In the afternoon, take another unforgettable safari through the unspoiledAfrican bush. Dinner and overnight at Hanglip Mountain Lodge in Entabeni.
