Thank you for your generous and continued support of the Victoria Alviti Music Foundation, a foundation which honors the memory of my daughter, Victoria. In 2011, weeks before she passed, she shared with her sisters and I her vision to create a foundation committed to keeping music programs in schools. She wanted students to learn the value and beauty of music – and for teachers to have the tools to teach them. She felt that when creativity has the means to thrive, the world can be a more positive, more harmonious place. It was her belief that every student should have the opportunity to experience the positive benefits music can bring.

When we learned of the Rhode Island Philharmonic’s goal to provide quality music education to every elementary school student in the Ocean State, the Foundation made our first $15,000 donation in December of 2011, just 3 months after Victoria’s passing, to the Rhode Island Philharmonic Orchestra and Music School’s FLEX (Foundations in Learning Exploration) with the Phil program. This past year, we are proud to announce that over $50,000 has been granted to the program with the future goal to fund every elementary student in Rhode Island.

This is the second year that the Philharmonic has teamed up with Carnegie Hall’s Weill Music Institute and their Link Up program. Providing instruments, curriculum materials and professional development, Link Up culminates in concerts at Veterans Memorial Auditorium in April where close to eleven thousand students play along with the Philharmonic. This is a special time for us because April is also Victoria’s birthday.

FLEX with the Phil is designed in consultation with Rhode Island teachers and administrators to complement existing in-school programs, while making use of the distinctive resources of the Orchestra and Music School. Link Up has already changed lives, impacting students at a key point in their development: “I have never seen or played with an orchestra like the RI Philharmonic Orchestra, and I know that the experience will never get lost because I will remember it for the rest of my life,” wrote one student. Another confessed: “I would go back to fifth grade just to go to such a wonderful concert again!”

Mision StatementThe Victoria Alviti Music Foundation strives to keep the music alive in schools across the nation. This 501(c)3 non-profit organization was founded in memory of Victoria Alviti – an energetic young woman who envisioned a vibrant world for students, a world where music fills the halls and music education is both encouraged and nurtured.

Through musically-focused charitable events, we will raise funds and award grants to educational programs that offer opportunities for active participation in music.

It is our hope that the Victoria Alviti Music Foundation will change the way our schools approach music programs and positively impact and engage students.
