Dear Parents, Friends and Guardians,
On Monday I joined the large numbers participating in the Community Reconciliation Walk. Together with a 50 of our students we wanted to express our support for a unified country where we acknowledge the need to be inclusive and fair. In our school reconciliation covenant it states, “We commit to Reconciliation, in living Gospel values, we are called to be people of reconciliation and inclusion.” It is the action that speaks much louder than the words so I encourage you all to talk with your children on what fair and inclusive actions need to look like. Thank you to the parents and staff that gave so generously of their time to ensure the year 3/4 and 5/6 Camps were a success. Brendan Atley Principal
Catholic Identity What is Holiness? I would love you to take a moment to reflect on how you would answer that question. This same question was once put to Pope Francis. His response: ‘It is the mother bringing up her children. The father working to provide food for the family, those who suffer in silence, those who quietly serve others.’ [EG 125,129]
‘That every ‘ordinary’ human home is the unexpected place where God lives too. Even when …’ [it is far from ideal].
There are no longer 2 forms of love, of forgiveness – a divine level and a human one. … Everything human and everything divine have now become one.
And all this is happening in the living rooms and kitchens of every family. The home is, indeed, a holy place. … It is the really real church.
Everything that happens in the unbelievably complex fabric of human life, the light and dark of it, has God’s life giving heart beat within it God’s loving signature set to it.
Our love for one another is the language of a passionate God … It is desire that spins us around, … And in the love of one another we see that face – in the touch of each other’s hands we feel God’s presence.
How reassuring it is to have the Pope using such powerful language about God’s presence in our everyday life. Even more heart warming, was to hear from a number of people in our community last week at the Faith Formation Gathering, share their thoughts on what Holiness is and the presence of God within their busy daily lives. A big thank you to all those who took part in the ‘fishbowl’ last week. It was very powerful and I only wish that we had videoed it.
Uniform Could parents please ensure that all uniforms are clearly named and to check that you have the correct children named on their uniforms. Please check that your child is wearing their clothing, we have a number of students missing jumpers & jackets. Just a reminder while we do support the big freeze, the big freeze beanies are not school uniform. School beanies can be purchased from Echuca Fashion Centre. Volunteer Induction If you have completed your Volunteer Induction and paperwork and would like to assist in classrooms please contact your child’s teacher. We love having parents in and around the school helping in any way you can. Echuca Moama Steam Rally Your child has received a free ticket to the steam Rally on the 8th & 9th of June. It has been sent home with them
today.
