• Flexible tool to be used on a voluntary basis• Can apply to hotel of all types, size and location• National/regional regulations always take precedence• Encourages use of alternative solutions to solve fire

safety problems using a Risk Assessment approach• Based on 3 pillars (Management, Building, System)• Provides assistance to the hotel management

Section ‘M’ – MANAGEMENT of hotel fire safety:– Fire safety register

– Emergency Response Plan

– Staff fire safety training (frequency/extent/recordings, etc.)

– Fire risk assessments

Section ‘B’ – BUILDING:– Design and construction must comply with the national/local

standards

– Design objectives and criteria to be achieved

– No prescriptive requirements: set of advices and best practices

– A thorough Risk Assessment will identify any deficiencies

– Prioritise deficiencies and put into place a plan of remedial action.
