This week we began to explore our body’s functions, and the wonderful senses that Hashem gave us. On our discovery table the yeladim enjoyed a variety of hands on experiences! Salt and sugar to taste, a mag- nify glass to look through , bumpy sensory materials to touch, cinnamon and coffee to smell and even a puzzle that makes noise to hear! During group meeting the yeladim helped to brainstorm the different parts of the body and what we use them for. As the children excitedly shared their ideas, Morah began to draw it on the white board. We then ex- plored what our hands do, and its sense of touch. Morah played a fun game that helped to better understand how our sense of touch can help us. One by one, the yeladim put their hand into a mystery brown bag, and had to guess the item that was inside through touching it. It was exciting for the yeladim to see that their guess was right, just by feeling with their hands! As a follow-up sensory activity, we got on our smocks for some messy sensory fun by covering our hands with paint and sand. Using our ears to hear was another fun discovery! Morah recorded different sounds throughout the classroom, and the yeladim listened and guessed what they might be. They then used different noisy items, such as seeds, pasta, and beads, to fill their very own hand made instrument. Morah also did an experiment to see what we can put in our instruments to make it sound the loudest. Some items that were tried were feathers, pompoms, tissues, seeds, and beads. After trying out different items, the yeladim noticed that it was the hard items that helped to make noise, while the soft items didn't make any sound at all! Using our eyes to see was another sense that we learned about. We played a fun game “eye spy” to look around and find different objects around the classroom. The yeladim then cut up different pictures from maga- zines to create their own “eye spy” collage papers. Our day off from school on Tuesday was a great springboard to talk about the upcoming season of win- ter. It was also a great opportunity to change our sensory table from sand to pretend (almost real!) snow. Our favorite music teacher, Miss Rachel, came back to lead us in a fun sing-along, using instruments, and song! Look out for our new literacy addition to our classroom! Here’s how it works: Each morning there will be a question written on the white board for your child to answer. This will help with letter recognition, as well as your child’s input to be able to learn how to write. We are looking forward to another great week ahead! This week we began to explore our body’s functions, and the wonderful senses that Hashem gave us.

On our discovery table the yeladim enjoyed a variety of hands on experiences! Salt and sugar to taste, a mag-

nify glass to look through , bumpy sensory materials to touch, cinnamon and coffee to smell and even a puzzle

that makes noise to hear!

During group meeting the yeladim helped to brainstorm the different parts of the body and what we use

them for. As the children excitedly shared their ideas, Morah began to draw it on the white board. We then ex-

plored what our hands do, and its sense of touch.

Morah played a fun game that helped to better understand how our sense of touch can help us. One by one, the

yeladim put their hand into a mystery brown bag, and had to guess the item that was inside through touching it.

It was exciting for the yeladim to see that their guess was right, just by feeling with their hands!

As a follow-up sensory activity, we got on our smocks for some messy sensory fun by covering our hands with

paint and sand.

Using our ears to hear was another fun discovery! Morah recorded different sounds throughout the

classroom, and the yeladim listened and guessed what they might be. They then used different noisy items,

such as seeds, pasta, and beads, to fill their very own hand made instrument. Morah also did an experiment to

see what we can put in our instruments to make it sound the loudest. Some items that were tried were feathers,

pompoms, tissues, seeds, and beads. After trying out different items, the yeladim noticed that it was the hard

items that helped to make noise, while the soft items didn't make any sound at all!

Using our eyes to see was another sense that we learned about. We played a fun game “eye spy” to look

around and find different objects around the classroom. The yeladim then cut up different pictures from maga-

zines to create their own “eye spy” collage papers.

Our day off from school on Tuesday was a great springboard to talk about the upcoming season of win-

ter. It was also a great opportunity to change our sensory table from sand to pretend (almost real!) snow.

Our favorite music teacher, Miss Rachel, came back to lead us in a fun sing-along,

using instruments, and song!

Look out for our new literacy addition to our classroom! Here’s how it works:

Each morning there will be a question written on the white board for your child to answer.

This will help with letter recognition, as well as your child’s input to be able to learn how to write.

We are looking forward to another great week ahead!

Shabbat Shalom,

Morah Chaya and Morah Paula
