Course contentThe BTEC Level 2 Diploma in Creative Media Production (Game Development) aims to provide education and training in the art and design sector primarily for those learners in full-time education, who are seeking progression either into employment or onto further study. The qualification aims to provide a broad-based approach to the Game development sector. Mandatory Units:* Research for Creative Media * Communication Techniques for Creative Media Production* Media Audiences and *The Creative Media Sector. The specialist units on this pathway are: *Interactive Media Production *Digital Graphics for Interactive and Print based media * *2D Digital Art for Computer games *Deconstructing Computer Games. The course includes support to improve literacy and numeracy skills with Skills for Life qualifications.

What the course can lead toBTEC Level 3 Extended Diplomas in media Production (Game Development)

Qualification/sThe BTEC Level 2 Diploma in Creative Media Production

Entry requirementsFor learner’s aged 16 or above with either: related level 1 or level 2 qualifications and a demonstrated interest in the area or relevant work experience. Your English will need to be at level 1 - GCSE D-E standard and your math’s needs to be at entry-level 3 - GCSE F-G standard. These will be assessed before interview.

When the course runsThe course runs in the day for 12.5 hours teaching per week, 36 weeks per year for 1 year.

Course feesAll courses have a fee attached to them. Some learners may qualify for a fee reduction depending on their personal circumstances or age. If you qualify for a reduction you will be asked to make a contribution to the college fund.

Learner Disciplinary Policy

AimThe aim of this policy is to set out the informal and formal stages, which will befollowed when a learner behaves in ways which go against the expectedcodes of conduct in the college, as set out in the Learner Handbook.

This policy applies to all learners aged over 16 on 31st August in the currentyear. There is a separate policy and procedure for younger learners.The college wants all learners to succeed on their course and be wellprepared to progress to the next level of learning or into employment.All learners attending courses at Liverpool Community College are expectedto keep to the Learner Agreement about behaviour and work. This is set outin the Learner Handbook.

Individual courses may have additional expectations linked to professionalpractice for example. These are set out clearly in the Course Guide or inother written instructions from college staff, such as those to do with workplacement.

If a learner behaves in a way which goes against the expected codes ofconduct in the college or for the course, disciplinary action may be taken.

Staff will give advice to learners during the early stages of the procedure.They may refer the learner to a learning mentor or Connexions personaladviser if this is appropriate. Young learners (16-18) who are dismissed willautomatically be referred to Connexions. If a learner is in public care or has alearning difficulty and/or disability, the referral to Connexions applies up to theage of 25.
