Send Me An Angel focuses on the enhancement and development of your caregiver’s soft tasks which are your edge in today’s competitive environment. The Send Me An Angel presentation provides information to educate and reinforce the value of the caregiver’s role and enhance their ability to connect with clients and one another. Top Education Tips: Jeannie Vestrum, Director of Program Dev. & Bonnie Reid, V.P. Program Dev. Jeannie and Bonnie will lead a discussion among a panel of owners –Sherry McGowan (Crystal Lake, IL), Mary McIllece (Sycamore, IL), and Michelle Hollander (Arlington Heights, IL)—discussing their tips on how to implement a caregiver education program. The Better Angels of Our Nature: Daniel Ross, Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, Certified Jungian Psychotherapist This presentation will discuss the effects of aging in a culture obsessed with youthful images. The particular state of being for the aged in our time and the attack on their autonomy, in the best of circumstances, brings on anger and conflict and, in the worst, hopelessness and despair. We will discuss strategies to understand and manage conflict in the context of homecare. Our caregivers are sent in to engage with people during the most difficult phase of life. Why don’t my caregivers retain what has been taught? This session will explore Adult Learning Principles and how to connect content with meaning. Utilization of these principles will serve to engage your caregivers through the learning process and make learning more meaningful. We will run through a few exercises to apply these principles, followed by open discussion and sharing of ideas. Safe and Steady® - Fall Prevention Bonnie will review our Safe and Steady Fall Prevention program from our Life Care Navigation series. The Safe and Steady program is designed to provide education, tools, and resources to help you and your caregivers become more aware of the causes of falls and assist in prevention of falls.
