Prozac

Prozac is an antidepressant in a group of drugs called selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs). Prozac affects chemicals in the brain that may become unbalanced and cause depression, panic, anxiety, or obsessive-compulsive symptoms.

How Prozac Works

Eli Lilly and Company in 1970 David Wong, proposed to retest the series

for the in vitro reuptake of serotonin, norepinephrine and dopamine.

Trade name Prozac, in February 1977 Eli Lilly's patent on Prozac (fluoxetine)

expired in the United States in August 2001,prompting an influx of generic drugs onto the market.

History

rash hives fever joint pain swelling of the face, throat, tongue, lips, eyes, hands,

feet, ankles, or lower legs difficulty breathing or swallowing fever, sweating, confusion, fast or irregular heartbeat,

and severe muscle stiffness seeing things or hearing voices that do not exist

(hallucinating) seizures withdrawl
