Workshops for Ages 0 - 5Boogie Babies Drop Infor ages 6 months - 24 months

This group for babies and toddlers uses songs, musical instruments, stories and play in a fun and relaxed play session. The children are encouraged to interact and develop their social and motor skills whilst enjoying the playtime. Parents and carers are a part of the sessions, which are a fantastic way to meet other families with young children.Drop in session. Little Imaginationsfor ages 2 - 4

Led by an experienced pre-school drama specialist, the children will use music and song, storytelling, role-play, craft and circus skills to learn and have fun. Mini Theatre Makersfor reception and school year 1

These sessions use storytelling, interaction and imaginative play as the perfect introduction to drama. Supported by the workshop leader, children will develop skills to create theatre using props, costume and most importantly - their imaginations! Beginners & JuniorsDrama for Beginnersfor school years 2 & 3

The emphasis is on fun in these workshops and children will use games, role-play and storytelling to learn the basics of theatre and performance. The sessions are an opportunity for children to channel their creativity and boost their self-confidence. Each term ends with a sharing event to show friends and family what the group has been working on.Tuesday 5pm - 6pmWednesday 4pm - 5pmSaturday 10am - 11am

Junior Dramafor school years 4 - 6

Juniors take an imaginative approach to learning drama and performance skills, building confidence and having fun in the process. Under the guidance of an experienced drama worker they will produce a short piece to perform at the sharing event at the end of term. Juniors also have the opportunity to take part in at least two shows every year.Tuesday 6:30pm - 7:30pmThursday 5pm - 6pm

Wednesday 5pm - 6pm Saturday 11am - 12pm

Dance Creative 1for school years 1 - 6

This session is aimed at children who love to dance and move. The children will work with professional choreographer Kat Osborn to try out new styles of dance including street, modern and classical. They will create their own piece using costume, props and an original soundtrack that they will perform at the end of term sharing event.Thursday 4pm - 5pm

Seniors & Young ActorsSenior Dramafor school years 7 - 9

Senior Drama invites young people to develop their own style and use different theatre techniques to create performances. Young people will create exciting theatre and grow in confidence, developing skills in character, voice and improvisation.Wednesday 6pm - 7:30pmSaturday 12pm - 1:30pm

Dance Creative 2for school years 7 - 11 & young people aged 16 - 25

This session is for young people who love dance and want to learn new styles and create their own work. Work with Kat Osborn, a professional choreographer, to discover new moves and create edgy original routines.Thursday 5pm - 6pm

Young Actorsfor school years 10 - 11 & young people aged 16 - 25

From developing characters to experimenting with different styles of theatre and devising their own pieces, the young actors will continue to gain the skills to become confident performers with a deeper understanding of the stage.Thursday 7:30pm - 9:30pm

More Youth Theatre WorkshopsIndrafor school years 7 - 11 & young people aged 16 - 25

Indra is a theatre group exploring political, social and community issues such as poverty, body image, modern day slavery and international conflict. The Indra group share their ideas through creating films and productions and will have the opportunity to take part in an International Congress in Bethlehem in 2016.Tuesday 6pm - 7:30pm

Connect SessionsThese sessions are for people with disabilities and learning difficulties. The groups will work with two professional practitioners to create a performance piece combining movement, drama, voice, music and lighting. Arts AwardThe Arts Award is a nationally recognised qualification. You can achieve an Arts Award whilst taking part in Burnley Youth Theatre sessions, productions or when volunteering. This weekly session is run by our trained Arts Award advisers and can be attended regularly or on a drop-in basis to support you completing your Arts Award.Drop In Session (ages 7 - 25) Thursday 4pm - 6pm

Specialist WorkshopsFilm Making: Lights, Camera, Actionfor school years 7 - 11 and young people aged 16 - 25

Back by popular demand, this film making session will use multimedia and film to inspire creativity and explore new ideas. Working with experienced film maker Jay Walton, young people will develop skills in camera work, storyboarding, editing, and special effects, leading to the creation of their own short films.Tuesday 5pm - 6pm

Musical Theatrefor school years 4 - 11 and young people aged 16 - 25

Here by popular demand, work with experienced musical director Jack Herbert to learn show-stopping songs from popular West End and Broadway shows. Develop confidence through ensemble singing, whilst gaining vocal and choral techniques.Tuesday 7:30pm - 8:30pm

Behind The Scenesfor school years 7 - 11 and young people aged 16 - 25

Work alongside the director of the Christmas Show and various experts to form the production and backstage team for the BYT production of Cinderella! This session will involve all aspects of production such as stage management and technical theatre, as well as the design and creation of set, props, make-up and costume. The 10 week course culminates in the Christmas production and gives participants the opportunity to be part of the official backstage team.Wednesday 7:30pm - 9:30pm

First Byte Taster DaysDuring our new byte-size theatre taster days, participants will have the unique opportunity to explore specialist strands of theatre for a whole day!

These sessions cost £15 per day and must be booked and paid for in advance.

Stage Combatfor school years 7 - 11 and young people aged 16 - 25

Do you have the guts to face the fight?! Here by popular demand, this much anticipated and long awaited workshop promises to be an action packed, fun-filled day! Work with an experienced fight director and choreographer to learn the secrets of making a stage fight look truly real.Saturday 10th October 2015 10am - 4pm

Spooky Spiesfor school years 1 - 6

Mystery, magic and mayhem weave together in a fun filled day to create your own piece of theatre! If you are energetic, creative, imaginative and enjoy acting and making up stories, you will love being part of the cast of ‘Spooky Spies.’ It will be spooky. It will be suspicious. A full day exploring the magical world of breathing life into puppets! Work with an expert to learn the secrets and techniques of master puppeteering: making them, characterising them, creating stories, and learning how they can add a touch of theatrical magic to a production.Saturday 14th November 2015 10am - 4pm

Winter is drawing close in the magical Kingdom of Elland. The Prince needs to find a Princess before the winter shutters come down as Cinderella stays at home every day, cleaning and cooking for her step-mother. On the night of the great Winter Ball masques are worn, the clocks strikes midnight and a glass slipper is left behind. Will the Prince and Cinderella find each other through the winter storms? Will they get their happily ever after?

BYT Rep Company Auditionfor school years 10 - 11 & young people aged 16 - 25

Auditions on Tuesday 22nd September 2015 7:30pm - 9:30pm

Would you like to take part in the 2016 Edinburgh Fringe Festival and be part of a working theatre company? We’re looking for young people to devise and perform a piece of professional theatre for the festival in August 2016. You will need to be able to commit a full year’s development of the performance and take part in fundraising activities for the trip. Sessions run on Tuesday evenings with extra rehearsals in July 2016 leading up to the festival.

The Time Travellers Audition for school years 2 - 6

Auditions on Tuesday 6th October 2015 5pm - 6:30pm

Join this adventurous cast to devise a totally new piece of theatre to be developed and finally performed at the end of the February half term holiday. Take your audience on a thrilling journey through history and time! Who knows what will happen on the way, and the strange characters you’ll encounter from the furthest reaches of the universe.
