The best approach to integrate an iPad into the classroom
Think about what you do in each stage of teaching and learning cycle and try to find an application which will help you achieve your goal
!5
Example 1 Interactive app Using Skype
The stage: Building the context
Topic: My country
Learning outcomes: Participate in a short casual conversation
!6
Sample activity "Guess where I am from!"
Students need to ask questions to find out where a guest speaker is calling from
To find volunteers for this activity, use the website "Skype in the classroom" to participate in a project.
!7
Example 2 Interactive whiteboard on iPad
Stage: Joint construction of the text
Using this app, you can share the whiteboard with your students.
A great way to produce a written text together with your students
!8
Example 3 Skitch for iPad
Stage: Building the context
Great application for brain-storming and teaching vocabulary.
Import images, draw lines, point out objects in a photo.
!9
1) Make a vocab map, download a wallpaper related to a unit of interest (i.e. Mountains). Then, go ahead and use arrows and text in Skitch to show vocabulary on the picture. This is a great feature for lower level students who need to visualize vocabulary.
2) Make an instruction map. Take a snapshot of a webpage and show students where they need to click in order to register, get a login, etc.
3) Annotate a student's paper. You can use the draw feature after you have taken a picture of a student's work and then write your comments or use text to do so.
4) Sync with Evernote Trunk and add audio to your comments on a student's paper.
5) Create a classroom picture for relief teachers. You can take a picture of your class, type in the students' names, and then give it to them on their email the day you can't be there.
