1 Introduction This document provides lists of the Inter-cabinet and Intra-cabinet cablesinstalled in RNAC and RNBC cabinets in RNC2600.
For more detailed information on RNC cabinet mechanics, see
Equipment Lists for RNC2600 .
For basic information on, for example, RNC installation planning, see IPA-RNC Engineering Description.
For detailed information on RNC hardware installation, see Installing theMGW and IPA-RNC.
In RNC2600, the intra-cabinet timing bus cables, as well as the inter-cabinet HMS and timing cables, may follow either the “daisy chain” orthe “star” topology. The configuration must be uniform between RNACand RNBC. This cable list follows the “star” topology. For information on
the “daisy chain” topology, see Cable Lists for RNC450 .
1.1 Numbering of the subrack shelves and cableconnectors
The equipment cabinets, subrack positions, and subrack cableconnectors are numbered in a way to aid installation.
The subrack positions of the cabinet are assigned with numbers from 1
to 4 from the top down. The subrack is identified by a sticker attached toits upper left corner.
As you can see in below figure, each subrack has 20 slots. The slotnumber is marked in front side of subrack. Slot 1 to 18 are full-heightplug-in units. Slot 19 and 38 are half-height plug-in units.

1.2 Locking pegs
Each connector is provided with locking pegs or screws that fasten thecable connector securely to the subrack.
The connector's locking pegs are placed in the same positions in eachsubrack type, regardless of the subrack's position in a given cabinet. Ifthe subrack includes supplementary locking pegs, they can be used asspare parts.

1.3 Categories of cables
The cabling of an network element consists of interconnection cables(intermediate cables) and site cables (outgoing cables).
1.3.1 Interconnection cables
The interconnection cables comprise all the cables inside each cabinetand between the cabinets which form a single network element. Theinterconnection cables are equipped with connectors. They include:

The site cables are not delivered in sets and vary in length depending onthe delivery. They must be ordered separately and are designed foreach delivery.
1.4 Identifying cables
The equipping reference is located on the cable identification label (b inFigure Example of marking system for the cables).
The first part of the equipping reference specifies the cable list where thecable is mentioned. The second part gives the sequence number withinthat list.
The equipping reference of the cables is based on the cabinet (type)name in which the cable is connected. There are two main groups:
1. Cables whose both ends are connected in the same cabinet (Intra-cabinet cables).
The equipping information is expressed: [Cabinet type sequencenumber].”CA_123”. There may be several identical cables of this type ina single Network Element, but only one within the same cabinet.
2. Cables which originate from one cabinet and end in another (Inter-cabinet cables).
The equipping information is expressed: [Cabinet type, cabinet index_sequence number].”CBn_123”. There may be only one of eachindividual cable of this type in a single Network Element.
All Inter-cabinet cables connect from RNBC to RNAC.
The cabinet, where the cable starts in, determines the [cabinet type, cabinet index] part of the equipping reference.

1.5 Cabling lists
The cables are listed in tables. Each cable has its individual number. This number and the address of both ends of the cable are given. Boththe name of the functional unit and connector designation, to which theend of the cable is connected, are given in a table. The columns of thetable are used as follows:
Table 1 Explanation of cabling list columns
Equip.No
CABLE FROM CABLE TO
Type Use Note
C a b i n e t
FU Position
C a b i n e t
FU Position
Equip.No.
The equipping number is the individual number of the cable. Both ends of the cable bear a label with this number on it.
CABLEFROM(RNBC)
In case of Inter-cabinet cabling, the text CABLE FROM indicates that the cable originates from the RNBC cabinet.
CABLETO(RNAC)
In case of Inter-cabinet cabling, the text CABLE TO indicates that the cable ends in the RNAC cabinet.
Cabinet Cabinet A (RNAC) or cabinet B (RNBC).
FUThese columns give the name of the functional unit housed in the subrack where the ends of the cable connect to, for exampleMXU.
Position These columns give the designation of the connectors where the ends of the cable connect to.
TypeThis column gives the type (the first three or four letters) and length (the following two or three numbers) of the cable indecimeters, or if marked with a C, in centimetres. For example, CHA010 is a cable of CHA type which is 100 cm long.
Use This column, when used, gives the type of signal carried by the cable, for example PDH line.
Note This column is for additional information.
Tip
The lengths of Intra-cabinet cables in deliveries may be different thanthose given in this document.

1.6 Physical cable equipping positions and SW portconnection designation
This section shows the physical cable equipping positions in the subrackand the corresponding SW port connection designation, used inhardware configuration management.
The cable connection designations are needed when creating internalport connections between plug-in units' ports. For more information, seeCreating connection descriptions in Hardware ConfigurationManagement in IPA-RNC .
For example, for a cable installed in position 1.0B 1.4A, the port
connection coordinate in hardware configuration management (WFcommands) is B76. See also Figure 4 Notations used in table Physicalcable equipping positions and corresponding SW port connectiondesignation.

4 Inter-cabinet cables from RNBC toRNAC
This chapter details cabling from the RNBC cabinet to the RNAC cabinetin RNC2600.
4.1 Inter-cabinet HMS and timing cables
The timing bus cable configuration shown on the table follows the “star”topology. For information on the “daisy chain” topology, see Cable Listsfor RNC450

1) Default: Equipped at factory. Cables are bundled together and left unconnected if RNBC cabinet is not in the configuration.
2) Optional: If RNBC is in configuration these cables are connected to RNBC.
3) Default: Equipped at factory. Equip these terminating cables to sub rack 3 if RNBC cabinet is not in the configuration.
4) Optional: If RNBC is in configuration these cables are moved to RNBC subrack 1.
If the RNC2600 has the old “daisy chain” topology for timing bus cables, see Cable Lists for RNC450 .
The “daisy chain” cabling is identical for RNC450 and RNC2600, withtwo exceptions:
Concerning the inter-cabinet cable CB0_050 for Timing bus 0,the cable type for this cable is CHZ015 in RNC450, and CHZ020in RNC2600. Nonetheless, this cable is connected in the samepositions for both RNC450 and RNC2600. The cable type has noeffect to the configuration.
When the RNBC cabinet is added or removed, whetherexpanding from capacity step 1, to step 2 or step 3; ordowngrading from step 2 or step 3, to step 1, the inter-cabinetcables CB0_050 and CB0_051 for Timing buses 0 and 1 arehandled differently in RNC450 and RNC2600:
- In RNC450, these two cables come attached to theRNBC expansion cabinet.
- In RNC2600, these two cables come with the RNACcabinet. In RNC2600, these two cables go as shown onTable 20 Timing cables from RNBC to RNAC: “daisychain”.
