Dear Parents A very big welcome back to the 2017 school year. It has been such a pleasure catching up with all of your children and hearing about many a holiday experience. They all look so fresh and well rested and have all grown so much. Our Parent Information Nights commence tonight with the Year 2 and Year 1 classes and the rest are listed in the calendar above. Years 1-6 meetings will start in the School Hall and you will then proceed to your childs classroom to hear class specific information. Last Wednesday our Term 1 Guild Captains were announced at Prayer Assembly so we extend our congratulations to Dominic Captain, Alivia Becvarovski; McCauley Captain, Asha Huggins; McBride Captain, Meg Fitzpatrick and Byrne Captain, Jake Paynter. As you are aware our Early Childhood Grounds are currently being developed and as this is not due for completion until late March it has resulted in a little less car park space available in the Church grounds. My apologies for the inconvenience this may cause many of you as I empathise with how difficult it is to find a berth around the perimeter of the school for pick up and drop off. On occasions the Tennis Courts at Abbett Park or using Manning Street and coming down the laneway to our oval may work more smoothly for you. Further on in the Newsletter you will see an advert for a Maggie Dent public seminar on the 30 th of March. She is always an inspirational speaker so take a peak see if you are interested in attending that evening session. Michael Grose, another reputable presenter in the area of learning more about supporting our childrens emotional and learning growth also has an online parenting program on offer. PICNIC ON THE GREEN

CANCELLED - Friday, 10th February 2017

New date and time to be advised.

President’s Welcome On behalf of St John’s P&F I would like to welcome everyone back from holidays. I hope everyone had a safe and relaxing time. I would also like to take the time to welcome any new families to the School. This is my first year as P&F President with Cathy Donald finishing up last year. I would like to thank Cathy for all her hard work and support of the P&F, I certainly have big shoes to fill!! Our P&F Committee and Class Reps are working hard to ensure all families are made to feel welcome and they are in the process or organising some great parent and family events for the year. Our first event of the year is THE PICNIC ON THE GREEN, which was due to be held this Friday 10th February but due to the weather forecast we have decided to postpone this, we will reconfirm the new date later in the week. This is a great way to see in the new school year and to welcome our new families into the St John’s community. The first P&F meeting is to be held on Wednesday evening commencing at 7pm in the library. All welcome. Once again, welcome back and I look forward to a great year ahead. Ainslie Winkler P&F President
