http://cerah.lakeheadu.ca Call for Abstracts: Oral and Poster Presentations Excitement is building for the bi‐annual Palliative Care Conference hosted in Thunder Bay, Ontario by the Centre for Education and Research on Aging and Health (CERAH), November 3‐ 5 th , 2010. The theme of this year’s conference is Passport to Palliative Care: Journeys and Destinations. The conference is designed to engage individuals involved in all aspects of care, including: Nurses, Administrators, Physicians, Bereavement Counsellors, Social Workers, Board Members, Case Managers, Chaplains, Educators, Home Care Providers, Spiritual Care Directors, Volunteer Coordinators, Volunteers and other health care professionals with an interest in palliative care. We will continue to add and update the conference information so be sure to visit the official website at http://cerah.lakeheadu.ca/palliativecare/ The Conference Planning Committee invites you to submit an abstract for an Oral Paper or Poster Presentation in the areas of Clinical Practice (psych/social), Research, and/or Education. Oral Paper Presentations: Oral presentations are practice/research outcomes based presentations. Paper presentations will be a total of 60‐90 minutes in length which includes up to 20 minutes of discussion. Posters: Posters will be displayed throughout the conference. Authors will be expected to be present at their posters during designated times for poster judging. Details will be confirmed once posters have been accepted. All applicants will be notified of the acceptance or rejection of their abstract by June 18, 2010. All first authors of oral and poster presentations will be expected to register for the conference and pay all applicable fees by the deadline. Abstract Review and Selection All submissions will have names and other identifying information removed before evaluation by an Abstract Review Committee. Each abstract will be reviewed by a minimum of two reviewers, and will be accepted based on the following criteria: Relevance of topic to palliative care and contributes to the theme of the conference Presents best practice solutions to current issues in palliative care Evidence‐based, innovative palliative care research Demonstrates community‐based outcomes Abstract is well written/clearly communicated

InstructionsforAbstractSubmission

1. Abstractsmustbesubmittedonline.Incompleteabstractformswillnotbeconsidered.Emailandfacsimilesubmissionswillnotbeconsidered.

2. Oncesubmitted,abstracttextmustbeinitsfinalformasnofurtherchangesarepossible.3. Abstractsmustbeclearandconcise,outliningthecontentofthepresentation.4. Theabstractshouldbenomorethan250wordsandbewritteninEnglish.

a. Useaconcisetitle,includingkeywords,typedinboldfaceCAPITALLETTERS.b. Listauthor(s)names,degrees,organizationalaffiliations,city,province/state,and

countryasbrieflyaspossible.c. Usestandardabbreviations.
