Performance NotesCall Us to Your Table is appropriate for Communion throughout the liturgical year.

There are two sets of verses: Verses 1-4 are suitable for Ordinary Time as well as for Corpus

Christi, All Saints, and other liturgies with the focus of mission. Verses 5-10 are intended for Lent,

Holy Thursday, the Easter Vigil, Christ the King, and celebrations that focus on discipleship and

the RCIA.

As a Communion song, have the assembly sing the refrain and the cantor or choir sing the verses.

When using Call Us to Your Table for the first time, begin the refrain in unison so that the

assembly is able to learn it easily. The choir may sing the harmony parts on the verses; when the

assembly is comfortable with the refrain, add the harmony parts to the refrain as well. Use the

descant for the last refrains of the piece.

For variety and especially if Communion is long, there are a number of options available.

An occasional instrumental verse may be played between sung refrains. The descant line may be

played on a melodic instrument instead of sung. A second keyboard accompaniment is also

provided (see Alternate Keyboard Accompaniment.) This may be played as an alternative to themain accompaniment, or they may be played together, if two keyboards are available.

One suggestion for using both accompaniments is to start the main accompaniment on organ or

synthesizer and add the alternate accompaniment on the piano at the refrain.
