the first Berber tribes settled in the area. They were followed

by the Phoenicians, the Romans, the Arabs, the Spanish and the

French, making the country the cultural melting pot that it is

today. It's a kingdom with its own unique magic, and we can hardly

wait to befriend it. We're on our way to absorb the beauty of the

country that straddles the Atlas Mountains and nestles between

the Atlantic coast and the mysterious desert. Moroccans say that

the true spirit of their kingdom is only revealed to people who

have the patience to collect water and brew tea.

So we're setting out to travel the country.

To stroll through the medinas, linger in the fairy-tale souks,

hike across the mountains – and sleep in the desert.

The medina, the medieval part of Fès, is a labyrinth of

alleyways, small plazas and narrow passages.
