About The Team

Michaella Phillips is currently a senior at Howard University studying public relations andminoring in sports management. Her passion for music, sports, and media developed intoher desire to work in the entertainment industry. Through her different internshipsopportunities, she understands the importance of expressing her opinion as well as theimportance of the 1st Amendment.

Currently, a senior at Howard University, Jeana Henderson plans on receiving a bachelorsin Public Relations summer of 2020. After having an internship summer of 2018 atPennington Law Firm she solidified her plans on eventually attending law school. Afteracquiring degree in law, she plans on utilizing her degree in conjunction with working ata Public Relations Firm or Talent Agency.

Jonathan is a senior Public Relations major and Economics minor. Jonathan was the PubicRelations Director for PRSSA 2018-2019 school year where he learned the importance ofusing the first amendment on social media to express personal opinions and also gainknowledge from from other individuals. Also being a communications student Jonathan hasexpressed his rights of petition, speech and assembly to express my thoughts and grievances.

Naala Johnson is a senior Strategic Legal Management major and Swahili minor studying at HowardUniversity. She has utilized her strategic, organizational, project management and social mediamanagement skills as Branding Director of Spotlight Network and she is currently the CEO and Cofounder of a company called Fearless Dreamers which is an entertainment, community service andclothing company. She uses her creativity and talents to create music, graphics, events, films andwriting that express her first amendment rights.

In the political climate that our society is facing today, it is extremely important for allcitizens to know their rights. The 1 For All team worked to engage college students andraise awareness on the First Amendment at Howard University.

The 1 For All team held tabling events throughout the semester to receive studentscontact information. After receiving their emails, we were able to measure the amountof personal engagement we had throughout the semester.

This was the most effective way to receive engagement from students and gainsupport from Howard University students.

Background1 For All is the nation’s longest-running nonpartisan programthat advocates for first amendment rights.

It is a nonprofit and non-partisan campaign to boostunderstanding of our first amendment 1 For All was founded in2007 by former USA Today editor Ken Paulson.

The program is currently located at newly launched FreeSpeech Center at Middle Tennessee State University.
