Canadian Rockies
Little Snowdome, North Face, Columbia Icefields. Ward Robinson and I climbed an interesting route in April on the north face of Little Snowdome. It
can be seen on the approach to “Slipstream.” The face is about 2500 feet high. We climbed the central couloir. There is rock climbing up to 5.8 and some very enjoyable mixed ground. From the valley below, the top of the route looks formidable but in actuality this section consists of a devious chimney pitch which exits onto the ridge through a rock tunnel. We took seven hours and wore crampons throughout. I suspect that the route would not be as safe or enjoyable in summer.
