You are hereby formally recognized at this Meritorious Mast for your contributions to the CARL VINSON (CVN 70) Gold Eagle Brig, "#1 Afloat

Correctional Facility in the Fleet." During the 1997 Planned Incremental, Availability, the entire Brig staff implemented an extensive space rehabilitation program for the Legal Department, which involved the Brig and 12 other spaces. Your ability to maximize all available resources allowed this major effort to be successfully completed with a limited number of personnel and supplies. Immediately after opening the Brig, you successfully completed a CINCPACFLT inspection with an overall grade of 100%; it was recognized as the "best in the fleet." To date, the Brig Staff has supervised 15 full term and 8 Bread & Water prisoners, who received humane discipline and the necessary correctional treatment for further service. You should take pride in knowing that your actions with regard to Navy Corrections has not only been recognized as the best the Navy has to offer, but also that you have helped maintain CARL VINSON's reputation as "America's Favorite Aircraft Carrier."
