Physical Education — Mr. Mahy & Mr. Walton Games focusing on teamwork - collaboration, positive attitudes, leadership, and strategizing, while further developing movement skills is what students can expect in their Phys Ed classes. On February 27, we will be welcoming Ms. Twinney from Massey P.S. to join our Phys Ed classes, as Mr. Walton takes over her classes. A learning experience for all involved! See what's happening in the gym—follow us on Twitter @CarberryCougars Intramurals — Mr. Walton & Mr. Mahy Students in grades 3-5 are having fun playing European Handball (modified rules). If you're not on a team and want to be, simply come see Mr. Walton or Mr. Mahy in the Phys Ed office, and you'll be added to a team. Come out, be active, play safe, and have fun! Interschool Teams — Mr. Mahy & Mr. Walton Congratulations! The first ever Carberry handball team has joined past Carberry school teams with another display of perseverance at the Springdale P.S. Tournament, placing fourth overall after a nail-biting, sudden death overtime for third place. Our male keeper, Jaskirat, brought home an MVP prize, while our female keeper, Priyal, was the only keeper to shut-out an oppos-ing team. What a feat for a usually high scoring game. Basketball tryouts have begun! Another fantastic turn-out by the students at Carberry. We're an-ticipating about 100 students to try-out out for 12 spots on the co-ed team. Health Education — Mr. Mahy In term two, parents can expect an information letter regarding a rough timeline of when the Human Health and Sexual Development units will begin in their children's classes. There are still some rumours and myths around these units, and some of them are quite outrageous. Please don't fall for rumours, or be sucked into the myths, get your facts from the source—expectations are public knowledge and posted on the Ministry of Educations website, http://www.edu.gov.on.ca/eng/. Lacrosse Clinic — Mr. Mahy Bruce Codd, NLL assistant coach to the Toronto Rock, will be visiting the K-5 students on February 14 & 15 to share a brief history of Canada's national sport, lacrosse, and to share his knowledge of the game, while the students get active.
