    Case 1: Alma Electronics

Knowledge in electronics is very important in an electronics assembly plant.

The best way to learn about electronics is by enrolling to an engineering course. The

right courses for Mr. Mallaris sons are !achelor of "cience in Electronics

Engineering# !achelor of "cience in Electrical Engineering# and !achelor of "cience

in $ndustrial Engineering. %ne course for each of his sons. &is son that will be anelectronics engineer will have 'nowledge regarding the parts that are produced and

assembled in the plant. The other son that will be an electrical engineer will also

have 'nowledge about electronics. The one that will be an industrial engineer will

be responsible for the (uality and improvement of the processes involved in the

    plant.

    Case ): *.E. Construction

Engineer Estabillos doubt about his ability was a good thing. $f he did not

apprehend his situation and pushed through with his plan to hire more employees#then soon he may have been overwhelmed by duties he cannot handle alone. &e

has two choices: either he learn more about management or hire someone that can

help him manage or supervise. My advice for Mr. Estabillo would be to do both. &e

should ta'e the opportunity of his +rm to grow. "ince the need for better

management is urgent# he should hire someone to help him in the management

responsibilities. At the same time# he can further study about management to deal

with future e,pansion of his +rm.

    Case -: Motorbus Company

The ob of Engr. Ancheta as the new manager is to ma'e the operations in the

maintenance department as e/cient and e0ective as possible. The old method of

purchasing which causes delays in the delivery of needed parts is the root cause of

their problem. The previous manager# Engr. $nductivo# was not able to provide a

solution so he resigned. ow# $ thin' what Engr. Ancheta must do is to ma'e a

change in their purchasing and delivery method. &aving the information regarding

the parts used and the fre(uency of its replacement# he should ma'e a list of these

parts and estimate the minimum number to be purchased so that parts would be

ust enough and not over stoc'ed. "o when a part needs replacement it can be

ta'en from the storage room without waiting for the approval of the purchase

re(uest. Also within a month# the number of buses will be doubled. Maintenance

units should also be increased proportional to the number of buses available.

    Case 2: !its and 3ieces $nternational Corp.

Engr. 4agayan might point out the e,tra pair of unior machinist and helper. $t

should be enough to have two machinists# the senior and the unior# and one helper

in the corporation. Too many machinists will cause too much free time and idling at

wor'. *epairs on e(uipment should be minimal due to maintenance so the wor' of

    machinists should also be minimal.

    Case 5: Kundiman Communication Corporation

&aving the right person for the right ob results in an e0ective e,ecution of

the ob. Engr. de 6u7man 'nows this. &e wants to get his ac(uaintances from the

head o/ce to wor' under him because he trusts in their abilities to do the ob well.

$t is a good idea to convince the top management for the re(uest to get his friends.

8or'ing with someone you 'now improves productivity. The problem he is facing

goes beyond his ten years of e,perience wor'ing in the +rm. &e has no 'nowledge

about sta/ng. 3utting the wrong person for an important ob results in a disaster.

This should never happen. Engr. de 6u7man should consider consultation about the

process of hiring for his sta0s.

    Case 9: orthern Container Corporation

8hat happened with orthern Container Corporation devastated Engr.

Monsod. &e e,pected that his e0ort to convince Mr. Topiador to be their client will

+nally ma'e their operation at full capacity. A serious communication problem led

the corporations success to a loss. $mmediate action should be ta'en regarding the

communication between the di0erent departments inside the corporation. A regular

meeting should be held by the heads of each departments. As much as possible#

this meeting should be held daily. This can give the managers a chance to discuss

the important matters including deals being made for the sa'e of the corporation.

    Case : !atangas 3olytechnic College

Engineer 4a7aro has two problems. The +rst problem is the shortage of

teachers. %nly ten applicants +led for application but all were ine, perienced. "he

needs seven new teachers. "he wanted well;(uali+ed engineers but none applied.

%ne solution is to send personal re(uests to the engineers which would (ualify to

teach which are available in the area. "he can appeal to them that their college

re(uires e,perienced engineers to provide (uality education. "he would be luc'y if

all the vacancies will be +lled in by well;(uali+ed engineers. $f not# she has no

choice but to hire the new graduates. The second problem is how to ma'e theincumbent teachers satis+ed with their obs. A lot of teachers left because of o0ers

from other institutions. Engineer 4a7aro should motivate the teachers. $f possible#

she can re(uest an increase to the teachers salaries. "he should also call for a

meeting to discuss the crisis of their college and give speeches to boost their

    morale.

The recommendations of Engineer 3ascua was promising. !ut in a year of

operation# there were no indications of improvement in services. There were still

employees who do not report regularly for wor' and the team that was formed to

investigate and minimi7e system loss was not e0ective. $ncompetency of the

employees leads to the fall of a cooperative. =ismissal of these employees is still

necessary. >ormation of a new team is imperative to reduce system loss. Myadditional recommendation would be to hire a number of employees whose ob is to

    collect uncollected accounts.

Case ?: 6ood Music !roadcasting Corporation

The data on the number and fre(uency of e,posure of the advertisements

must be what Engr. 3anganiban is loo'ing for. The advertisers are billed depending

on the fre(uency of e,posure of their message. Engr. 3anganiban can command

each station to increase the fre(uency of e,posure of the advertisements assignedto them. The station should also accept more local advertisements.
