e-Mobility in Bavaria
Electromobility in Bavaria
Electromobility is one of the most important future activities
in the Free State of Bavaria. Bayern Innovativ has been
participating in various European projects dealing with charging
infrastructure and hosts a Competence Center for e-Mobility.
The Competence Center e-Mobility Bavaria is a key player for
electric mobility, new mobility concepts, sector coupling,
regarding energy topics and linked digitisation chal-lenges and
innovations in Bavaria and Germany. We are working in different
industry proj-ects e.g. in the field of super-fast charging for
electric cars with OEMs, research orientat-ed projects e.g. in the
field of sector coupling with energy providers and implementation
orientated projects for the run up of electric and new mobility
with local authorities, start-ups as well as the whole regarding
stakeholder network. In addition, we are responsible for the
management of the Bavarian funding program for charging
infrastructure.
Finally, e-Mobility is also an important topic within the
Bavarian Cluster Automotive which is also based at Bayern
Innovativ. The Cluster Automotive intensifies the collaboration of
com-panies and research institutes.
Catalonia Connects to e-Mobility and Autonomous vehicles
5 reasons why you should not miss developments concerning the
mobility of the future that are taking place in Catalonia
• With a population of 7.5 million, Catalonia produces 500,000
cars and 35,000 motor-cycles a year, counts 2 car OEM’s, several
motorcycle and bus manufacturers, and around 600 TIER suppliers.
The automotive one is the 3rd largest economic sector in
Catalonia.
• It should not come as a surprise that Catalonia is a leading
destination for foreign direct investments of the automotive
industry in Western Europe: NISSAN produces the 100% electric
e-NV200 van for the whole world at its factory in Catalonia. SEAT,
proudly “Made in Barcelona”, has recently made a sporty entrance
into e-cars with its new Cupra e-Racer.
• Catalonia is also home to top manufacturers of batteries,
EV-charging stations, soft-ware, sensors and the whole wide array
of products which enable e-Mobility and Autonomous driving.
Additionally, several engineering companies, applied research
centers and all-round service providers work closely with academic
centers of ex-cellence.
• The Government of Catalonia is committed to the advancement of
e-Mobility and the pervasion of Connected and Autonomous Vehicles
in Catalonia’s cities and rural areas. The political strategy is
twofold: on the one hand, to support the local industry as well as
foreign companies operating in Catalonia by the means of a leading
Cluster Policy. On the other hand, the Government of Catalonia
carries out strategic initiatives toward advancement of Electric
Mobility and Autonomous Vehicles.
• One example of the above is Catalonia Living Lab, a
public-private partnership between the Government of Catalonia and
the City Council of Barcelona on the public side, and several
companies on the private side.

We all know that mobility is a strongly regulated field. If we
want to shed some light onto the future, advanced regulations and
public-private partnerships appear to be fundamental to level the
playing field for all actors, putting citizens and their right to
an efficient and sustainable mobility at the very core.
Catalonia Living Lab is a specific development of the aforesaid
will. This initiative brings together public administrations and
private companies to meet the needs of the global in-dustry in the
fields of development and validation of connected and automated
driving tech-nologies, both in controlled environments and on
public roads.

BEAMAGINE
Beamagine is an SME based in greater Barcelona, devoted to
design and produce LiDAR imagers as well as other electrooptic
equipment. LiDAR sensors are key to all kinds of autonomous
vehicles due to its ability to register dense 3D information of the
vehicle surroundings (pedestrians, moving objects) in real time.
Our expertise in LiDAR imagers is underpinned by eight
international patents.
A lidar image (see picture) is a point cloud with full 3D
information (x,y,z) of the scene, so it is a perfect complement to
machine vision solutions requiring redundancy or depth information.
In a typical configuration, our fully solid-state sensors attain
large distances in full daylight (up to 200m) without moving
elements, to deliver highly detailed images (0.2Mpx) or real time
video.
We may cover from manufacturing of series of general-purpose
units to solutions tailored to the customers’ needs. The unit is
modular, so it may be adjusted to different size, shape, range,
frame rate and cost. Customized unit prototyping for tailored
applications is also available. We are currently looking for
integrators and end-users of autonomous-mobility systems in
non-automotive industries (e-boat, railway, agriculture, machining,
robotics, servicing, security, underwater...) to set
commercialization and/or joint development agreements.

Silence Urban Mobility is a company devoted to designing,
developing and manufacturing 100% efficient, electric, two or
three-wheeled scooters.
Our company is headquartered and has a technology center for
R&D in Esplugues de Llobregat (greater Barcelona) and runs a
new factory with a production capacity of 10.000 scooters and
12.000 battery packs per year / shift. It is the first factory in
Europe that develops and manufactures both vehicles and batteries
they use.
Our Silence S02 has obtained the new homologation EURO IV, can
reach a maximum speed of 80 km/h, up to 175 kg loaded-weight while
maintaining a range of 100 Km. Among other features, it is equipped
with a combined braking-system, LED lighting and reverse function.
There are 3 different driving models available: City, Sport and
Eco, which saves more than 500 each 10.000 Km. Our company has also
started its international expansion, with presence in over 14
countries worldwide and exclusive importers in the United Kingdom,
the Benelux countries and Switzerland, where EVs are having a great
reception.

Transports Metropolitans de Barcelona (TMB) is the joint
management unit of the com-panies Ferrocarril Metropolità de
Barcelona, SA, and Transports de Barcelona, SA, which operate the
Metro and the Bus networks on behalf of the Barcelona Metropolitan
Authority for Public Transportation (AMB).
Transports de Barcelona, SA (TB) has a fleet of 1.100 buses. One
of the main objectives of the bus company is working for the
sustainability of the city of Barcelona. The technology of the
fleet has change in the last years. CNG technology has increased to
more than 35%.The hybrid technology started with the retrofit of 70
diesel buses and 13 CNG buses to hybrid. Today more than 30% of the
fleet is hybrid.
Regarding to the electric technology, TB has been working in
different European re-search and innovative projects (ZeEUS,
EBSF-2, Eliptic, Assured, Jive) evaluating the different strategies
to electrify the public transport. Nowadays TMB has experience in
the electric bus system that will change completely the way to
operate buses in a dense urban cities.
We'd like to participate in technology projects for the future
like: Autonomous vehicles and Hydrogen fuel cell project.
