5. OAPCE: At this time CPIC has decided not to partner with OAPCE with respect to their 2017 Annual Conference which will be held during the fall of 2017. Also decided that it is late in the process to expand the April 1st event to include a larger OAPCE presence. Discussed the possibility of hosting OPACE Annual Conference in 2018. Will be added to the next agenda for further discussion.

7. Trustee Update: (attached) On February 1st, St. John Catholic Elementary School proudly hosted a news conference at which Waterloo Region’s bid committee for the 2021 Canada Summer Games unveiled details of the bid.

8.2 CPIC Sub-Committee Report: PRO Event April 1, 2016 Questions from Theresa Pastore, Executive Director, Parents Engaged in Education:

1. Topic of presentation you would like me to provide ie. school council roles and responsibilities; recruiting, retaining and succession planning for school councils; the importance of parent engagement or a specific topic that the committee prefers. The importance of parent engagement.

2. Details for the flyer; theme for this event, date, time, location, registration information, list of workshops, other information to be included. Provided by phone.

3. For the feedback survey; what is the goal of the event (we want to make sure that we measure if that goal was achieved), list of workshops and speakers (this allows us to measure the effectiveness of each session), is this event specifically for school council members or for all parents? Do you want a box which asks for permission for the WCDSB PIC to add the attendee to an email list? Provided by phone.

I am not sure how the agenda for the day will be laid out, but, I normally find it easier to get people to turn in their feedback surveys if they are given a raffle ticket for a prize when they turn them in. This encourages the majority of people to complete and turn in their surveys, otherwise the return rate might be much less. Of course, this is the choice of the committee. Provided by phone.
