While every effort is made by Citibank to ensure that your credit card is protected against fraudulent use, there are some proactive measures that you too, can take. Here are some useful tips you can practise to help safeguard your Citibank credit card.

DO

Receiving new/renewed cards• When you receive your new/renewed/replaced credit card, always check that the card is in

your name, and that the sealed package is not compromised. Immediately contact the bank if the card is not yours or if the seal has been tampered with.

• Please destroy your old/expired/unusable card by cutting it into several pieces to ensure that the chip and magnetic stripe portion is completely damaged immediately upon receiving your renewal credit card.

• Immediately sign on the signature panel at the back of your card upon receipt.

Safeguarding your PIN• When you receive your PIN, please check that the sealed envelope has not been opened or

tampered with. Call the bank immediately if the seal is broken.• Memorise your PIN immediately and destroy the PIN envelope. Go to the nearest branch/ATM

to change your PIN.

Using your card at retail outlets• Treat, value and protect your cards as if they were cash. Keep your card secure and ensure

that it’s in your possession at all times.• Ensure that you check the quality of the goods, products or services and reliability of the

retailer before making purchases.• Check and ensure that the card you receive after a transaction at a merchant is yours.• Ensure that you authorise all credit card use (face-to-face or on phone/internet).• Void incorrect charge slips before you sign a new one.

DON’T

Safeguarding your card• Never leave your credit card in an unsecured place, lying around at home or in the offi ce

where someone can gain access to it. If you do not want to use your card, keep it in a safe and secure place.

• Don’t leave your credit card in the glove compartment of your car.• Never sign a blank receipt. When you sign a receipt, draw a line through the blank spaces

above the total.• Do not lend your card to anyone. Your card is not transferable.
