Metals and Nonmetals

Chemical elements can roughly be divided into three Chemical elements can roughly be divided into three categories: metals, nonmetals, and inert gases. Approximately three quarters of all elements are considered to be metals. A metal must have some of the following properties:

1. Ability to donate electrons to form a positive iony p2. Crystalline structure3. High thermal and electrical conductivity4. Ability to be deformed plastically5. Metallic luster or reflectivity
