William Penn• William Penn was a Quaker
- a religious group that believed all Christians should be free to worship in their own way.
• Penn was granted the colony of Pennsylvania by the King of England, because of a debt to his family.

became a place where all Christians could live in peace.
• A later grant of more land eventually became Delaware.
More Freedom in Pennsylvania
•Penn developed a colony with more freedom than others–Freedom of speech–Freedom of religion–Elected representatives to an assembly

for Pennsylvania’s largest city, Philadelphia.–Where two rivers meet, so ships could easily dock
