According to Special Olympics rules, athletes will be matched up with others of a similar ability level to ensure fair competitions in all disciplines.
What would be national games without a splendid opening ceremony ? Share This special moment with the athletes ! A celebratory Programme of rhythmic music and good vibes !
Join us at the Villars Golf Club to cheer on the cross-country skiers in the morning and the snows-hoers in the afternoon. The winners will be an-nounced during the medal ceremonies.

National Winter Games Villars 2020More than 600 athletes from across Switzerland and 8 more countries will compete in the fol-lowing disciplines: Alpine skiing and snowboarding (Bretaye), cross-country skiing, snowshoeing (Vil-lars Golf Club) and floor hockey (Sports and Tennis Centre / Aiglon College) all in line with the spor-ting philosophy of Special Olympics (SO). Special Olympics is the world’s largest sports or-ganization for people with intellectual disabilities and strives for their empowerment, equality and inclusion. Founded by Eunice Kennedy in 1968, the movement is recognized by the International Olympic Committee.
Teams will compete at Aiglon College (Sat. and Sun.) and at the Sports and Tennis Centre. The latter venue will also host the divisioning and the medal ceremonies.
Venue for Alpine skiing and snowboarding events. Concerts (Thu.-Fri.) and medal ceremonies (Sat. and Sun.) will also be held here.
Come and watch the moving and memorable clo-sing ceremony. This last shared experience will also include a concert and the passing of the flag.
The races will take place on two courses: Lac Noir (Intermediate) and Stade (Advanced). The medal ceremony will be held in the tent at Bretaye.
