Sixth Sunday in Easter On Saturday, May 16, Cardinal DiNardo will ordain men to the transitional diaconate. Every priest is ordained a deacon before he is ordained a priest. These men will spend the next year finishing their seminary studies as well as assisting in parishes continuing to prepare for priestly ordination. The ordination is at the Co-Cathedral of the Sacred Heart at 10 a.m. Also, next Saturday, the parish will have a Crawfish Boil. Everyone is invited to come out and celebrate Spring time and enjoy the fellowship of your brothers and sisters in Christ. Sunday, May 24 is the Feast of Pentecost which officially ends the Easter season. Below is a form of a novena to the Holy Spirit.

Sexto Domingo de Pascua El sábado 16 de mayo, el Cardenal DiNardo ordenará hombres al diaconado transitorio. Cada sacerdote es ordenado al diácono antes de que él sea ordenado sacerdote. Estos hombres se dedicaran el siguiente año a terminar sus estudios en el seminario, así como a la asistencia en las parroquias y continuar con la preparación a la ordenación sacerdotal. La ordenación será en la Co-Catedral of Sacred Heart (Sagrado Corazón) a las 10:00am. También el próximo sábado, la parroquia tendrá una cena de “Crawfish boíl”. Todos están invitados a venir y celebrar la primavera y disfrutar la compañía de nuestros hermanos y hermanas en Cristo. El domingo 24 de mayo es la fiesta de Pentecostés, que termina oficialmente la temporada Pascual. Abajo se encuentra una forma de una novena al Espíritu Santo.

Catholic Communications Collections
Next week, our parish will take up the Collection for the Catholic Communication Campaign. This collection communicates the Gospel through Catholic social media activities and enriches our faith through podcasts, television, radio, and print media. NAM is partnering with Volunteer Interfaith Caregivers which is a faith based nonprofit whose mission is to promote senior independent living by providing free transportation and other services such as: transportation for doctor and clinic appointments, (they do not drive to the medical center), prescriptions, and grocery shopping, remaining with care receiver throughout a medical appointment, telephone reassurance calls, companionship visits. Those being served are: 65 years or older and ambulatory (cane or walker acceptable), must live within one of the 11 Houston area zip codes, and not diagnosed with a mental illness or Alzheimer’s. EXPLORE—is a retreat for young men in high school who want to experience Christ and grow in relationship with Him. It is an opportunity to set time aside to explore seminary life and learn about the call to holiness and the priesthood. The retreat will consist of some great music, games, faith sharing, fellowship, outdoor activities, creative prayer experiences and so much more. Explore will be held at St. Mary Seminary June 8-10. It is facilitated by seminarians studying for the priesthood for the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston. For more information or to register go to www.houstonvocations.com/explore-retreat.
