Getting Back Into Things I have been slowly getting back into things here. I continue to walk and do what they are telling me to do. I sure can tell I am getting older as my recovery this time around is hitting me with reality. I will look forward to being back with you this weekend for Public masses, although be it Pandemic relat-ed. Nevertheless, it will be good to celebrate public Mass after a six week hiatus.
This is an election year… …and boy don’t we know it. Because of the Pandemic, you have no doubt received your mail in ballots. I was looking at mine the other day and under the Presidential Candidates there is a blank line at the very bottom that states: Write In. With all the division in our culture over our societal political issues, I am tempted to write in: Come Lord Jesus! I believe we all aware of the pronounced divisions in our cul-ture and that is why I would like to move to Alaska and live off the grid. I know I wouldn’t survive but it is pleasant to dream every now and then. Nevertheless, there is heightened tension among millions as we near this election and there is sure to be heightened tension among millions after the dust settles. As we look at reality these days, the reality we are living in, we must admit and be honest that division is part and parcel of the human condition. However as people who stand up during the Mass and profess belief in Jesus as Lord, we must always consider how we are going to LOVE in the midst of this division. If you read St. Paul’s Letter to the Church in Corinth – 1 Corinthians 12:31 – St. Paul tells that church what it is like to be a member of that church – they are all part of one body seeking to LOVE one another in the midst of division. For some of us, would it not be more in line with God’s will to pick up the Scriptures and read them – like the Letter to Corinth above – instead of watching cable news channels? And then go out to “reality” and practice God’s self-giving love? The Corinthian Christians were elevating themselves above the body of Christ. They were elevating themselves above the Spirit of God. Is this not the mistake we always make that causes some kind of division?. Paul’s plea with them is that if they would get love right, everything else would fall into place.
There is much going on these days that give us pause. But as a church, we must get LOVE right! Jesus is Lord and he said, “By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” (Jn 13;35) When we get love right amazing things can happen in our lives and in the lives of those around us. Let’s employ that Holy Spirit given to us in the waters of Baptism when it was proclaimed: Jesus is Lord!
Seeking Some Awesome Adults
Are you willing to give 6 hours of your
time to accompany amazing youth
from our parish on their faith journey?
We are seeking faithful adults to pray
for our youth and help lead small
groups of middle and high school
students this fall. You do not need to
know everything about the faith, but
you must have a love for young
people, the Church, and a desire to
grow in your own faith. Each group
will have two adult leaders and both
leaders must be VIRTUS trained and pass a criminal
background check. To find out more information or to
apply, contact Katie Stinson at [email protected].

As the leaders of our school, Mr. Fuhrmeister's fifth
grade class has been charged with raising and
lowering the flag at St. Pius X School. During their
training for this important task, I was impressed with
their attention as Veteran and current St. Pius X and St.
John the Evangelist Technology Integration Specialist
Larry Leibovich spoke to them about caring for the
flag and showing respect for all that the flag stands for
in this great nation. In
these trying times, may
we all take a moment
to breathe deeply and
say a prayer of
gratitude for those who
have served to protect
our country, especially
those in the military.
All gave some, some
gave all.
May God be with you
always,
Dave Jenson

LIVE THE LITURGY - INSPIRATION FOR THE
WEEK
Who has authority over God’s kingdom? While
we know that the obvious answer is Jesus, that is
not the answer our lives always reveal. We
struggle with wanting control over God’s king-
dom. We wrestle with ownership, privilege, sta-
tus, and the protection of our rights. However,
at the end of the day nothing in this world or in
the one to come belongs to us. All that we see
and know to be true belong to God, and Jesus is
the only one who has any authority. How often
do we defer any of our decision making to God?
We often conduct our business as if we are the
owner, lord and master of it all, but sadly we are
not. God gives us the means and the potential to
bear good Gospel-centered fruit. This desire and
capacity exist within each individual. Unless we
really acknowledge and accept who is ultimately
in charge, the type of love, justice, peace, and
other good fruits God desires for the world will
never be realized.

Socially Distant Trunk or Treat
Saturday, October 24, Following the 4:00 Mass Mark your calendars for in-person Trunk or Treating this year! A few extra safety
precautions will be added this year to help us keep our event as safe as possible. We
will not have any indoor activities or our usual pizza supper, but we will have trunk or treating.
Handing out treats?
All participants must wear a mask and maintain social distancing of 6ft.
Reserve a space for your car in advance on our parish website or via Flocknote.
We’ll mark the parking lot in advance so cars are spaced out appropriately.
Plan ahead for your treat distribution. Consider bringing a small table to set treats on or get
creative with tongs, tubes, or costume gloves for handing out treats. Consider non-edible treats
Bringing your kids?
All participants (ages 2 years and over) must wear a mask.
“Slime” hand sanitizing stations will be set up at the beginning and end of the trunk-or-treating route.
There will be designated entrance and route to follow through the parking lot to get to each trunk to
help space out trick or treaters.
Stay together with your group, split larger families into small groups.
Limit of one family at a time at each vehicle.
Use wide-mouth buckets or bags that are easy to drop treats into.
As with all events during the pandemic, if you are not feeling well or have been exposed
to a known case of COVID-19, please stay home. If your child needs to miss out of the
fun due to high risk family members, please contact the parish office so we can plan for
a contactless surprise from the youth ministry office.
