Clinical Pharmacy, International Practice andPolicy MSc /

This MSc is an advanced-level programme offeredby UCL School of Pharmacy together with severallocal hospitals or teaching hospitals within London.It is designed for overseas pharmacists who wishto develop the clinical expertise and leadershipskills needed to deliver enhanced pharmacyservices adapted to their home countries.

 Degree summary 

Pharmacists will develop clinical pharmacy skills, inquisitive andenquiring approaches to practice and pharmaceutical care delivery,critical thinking and appraisal skills, transferable skills forpharmaceutical care services in new settings and environments, and aninternational perspective on healthcare systems and health needs ofdifferent populations worldwide.

// The programme is centred on the health priorities of the WorldHealth Organisation, which includes diabetes, cardiovascular andinfectious diseases. Approximately half of the programme isdelivered through taught modules at the UCL School of Pharmacywith the remaining time spent gaining clinical and researchexperience at hospitals in the London area under the tutelage ofclinical pharmacy specialists.

// Students develop new learning styles as they progress through theprogramme. This makes for a stimulating and challenging yearwhere self-development is central.

// This programme has drawn international students fromapproximately 40 countries worldwide.

The programme is delivered through a combination of lectures andworkshops, case tutorials and small-group work. Assessment is throughwritten examination, coursework, resesarch projects and oralpresentations.

 Degree structure 

Mode: Full-time: 1 year

Location: London, Bloomsbury

Students undertake modules to the value of 180 credits. The programmeconsists of four core modules (120 credits) and a dissertation (60credits).

DISSERTATION/REPORT

// All students undertake an independent research project which culminates in adissertation of 10,000 words.

Graduates of this programme usually return to their home countries towork in governnment ministries, hospitals and universities, or pursue aPhD in the UK or overseas.

 Entry requirements 

A minimum of a second-class Bachelor's degree in pharmacy from a UKuniversity or an overseas qualification of an equivalent standard, andregistration as a pharmacist. At least one year’s relevant workexperience in a clinical setting is normally required. Applicants must befamiliar with standard software packages including Word, Excel andPowerPoint.

English language proficiency level

If your education has not been conducted in the English language, youwill be expected to demonstrate evidence of an adequate level ofEnglish proficiency.

The level of English language proficiency for this programme is:Standard.
