Introduction

What is rope access?

What do we attach our ropes to?

Hello and welcome, thank you for taking the time to view the services offered by Clohessy Rope Access Ltd. Here at Clohessy Rope Access we pride our selves, in being able to provide complete access to any building regardless of height and position completing any maintenance tasks that are required. Rope access is a cost effective alternative to scaffolding and platform access machines, which can be expensive and cause disruption to tenants and the general public.

Rope Access is the application of specialized rope techniques to safely place workers in hard to reach job locations. Technicians descend, ascend, and traverse ropes to access and complete the many maintenance issues that can arise. Rope Access is very quick to install and can be taken away at the end of each day leaving no evidence of work or disruption.

All ropes are attached to structural parts of a building such as structural steel work and fire escapes. If no attachment point is available Clohessy Rope Access Ltd can quickly install and test eyebolts satisfying all health and Safety legislation to BS EN 795.

Our History

Jason Clohessy the founder of Clohessy Rope Access Ltd began his career as a roofer in the mid 1990's. This was where he acquired his interest in rope access and decided to specialise within this area using his skills within the building and roofing industry.

Reducing The Costs Clohessy Rope Access Ltd can greatly reduce the costs of any maintenance task affecting a building. This is because we have the knowledge and skills required to provide both safe and effective access needed to carry out the job. This not only reduces the man power, but also eliminates the need for scaffolding and power access machines such as cherry pickers.

Pest Control Feral pigeons build their nests in or on buildings and other structures like fire escapes. Fouling of these structures is inevitable. This is not only unsightly but may also have destructive effects from the feral pigeon droppings. Pavements, ladders and fire escapes may be made unsafe because of the real dangers posed by slippery bird excretion. Droppings also pose a significant hazard to pedestrians, particularly the elderly, as footpaths and stairways are made unsafe because of the potential for slipping on droppings.

Feral pigeons also carry diseases that are harmful to man. Significantly more than the brown rat and yet we wouldn't think of feeding the rat. The best known disease passed from birds to man is Psittacosis but over 40 more diseases can be passed from the feral pigeon to humans.

Solution Anti-roosting bird spikes prevent pigeons from perching on your property without injury. Pigeon spikes are simply glued onto any window, pipe or ledge where pigeons roost; the dense pattern of protruding pins make it impossible for pigeons to land, encouraging them to go elsewhere without hurting them. Pigeon spikes are virtually invisible once installed and provide the ultimate pigeon deterrent.

Ivy Control The aesthetic appeal of a property covered in wonderfully kept ivy simply cannot be denied. The slightly crumbling brickwork set behind the green shoots of ivy provides many buildings with an idyllic character and it really does remind you of England's green and pleasant lands.

The Problem However ivy really isn't all it is cracked up to be, it grows almost virulently, is extremely difficult to remove, and can cause all manner of damage to the things that it chooses to grow on. Yes it can look wonderfully aesthetic, but given half the chance it will inevitably grow out of control, becoming ragged, overgrown and wild looking. If you do wish to have ivy growing in your surroundings then at the very least you should be looking to perform maintenance on it bi-annually to prevent it getting out of control.

Brick Work Restoration Damaged cornices and broken cement works can often have the effect of making a property look run down and neglected. Clohessy Rope Access Ltd can undertake all manner of concrete repairs ranging from repairing broken cornices to re-pointing brick work.

Before After

Brick Cleaning Most of London's buildings have suffered from heavy soiling as a result of the pollution that is within the atmosphere. Our brick cleaning and brick restoration systems and techniques used are both sympathetic to the brickwork, stone work and highly successful. Our work will not damage sound brickwork and we can restore brickwork to its original condition. We believe this process to be both time and a cost effective way to improve the appearance of the property and also adding value.

What is Lime Scale? Rainwater passing over flashings and other architectural metal elements can leave metal oxide deposits on glass. White or grey streaks are evidence of this type of damage. Rainwater can also run over green concrete, mortar, and some types of stonework onto the glazing, insoluble salts of calcium crystallize and become chemically bound to the glass surface. Normal cleaning will not remove these deposits.
