Michael Pallamary Acquires Barry Rockwell Records A Note From Michael Pallamary
I have acquired the survey records of Barry Rockwell, LS 4639. Barry was active in La Jolla, Pacific Beach and many coastal areas. He has retired and relocated out of state. I will make these records available in the same way I have made the survey records of Thomas Shuttleworth, LS 2717 available. I
am presently indexing them to facilitate retrieval. I also have a large number of survey records available for La Jolla and other sections of San Diego.

Meeting held at Phil’s BBQ Event Center, 3750 Sports Arena BLVD, San Diego, CA, 92110
Board Members Present Steven Heise, President Paul Goebel, Director

Steven Heise called the meeting to order at 4:40 PM.
President’s Report-Steven
Steve ordered 5 Brass Disks from Berntsen for our life membership awards – 2 of which we would like to present at our Christmas party to Dan Harrison and Jas Arnold, who were awarded chapter life memberships earlier this year.
Board members agreed to print 250 copies for CLSA San Diego Chapter Membership Roster booklets.
Steve mentioned the next month chapter executive board meeting will be held at Dokken Engineering office at 5:30 PM on December 7th.

Chapter To Use Online Membership Database Chapter Will Adopt Upgrades Recommended By Membership Committee
Switching to an online membership database service will significantly reduce the workload of the Treasurer, Secretary, and Membership Committee, as well as facilitate the transfer of duties to new officer and committee members. It will allow the committee to focus more of their efforts on member retention and recruitment efforts, and provide the board with a simple method to contact each other and the members.
Several websites and software options were considered. Many required too much technical expertise, were too limited in database capabilities and customization, or were too expensive. Of the options considered, MemberPlanet and GroupSpaces were selected for further evaluation. Both services offer exports of membership data for detailed reporting or publishing, online payment collection, offline payment entry, group &
subgroup correspondence, multiple managers, and website integration and/or hosting.
Recommendations adopted by board Executive Board:1. Migrate the chapter membership database to GroupSpaces on the starter
plan with a 1 year subscription. 2. Send renewal notices and accept payments through GroupSpaces
beginning December 1, 2015. 3. Set up a PayPal account for [email protected], and link it with
the Chapter’s Bank account to access the funds received. 4. Assign Manager status on GroupSpaces to the Treasurer, Secretary,
Website Committee Chair, and all Membership Committee members.
5. Direct the Website Committee to evaluate the possibilities for integrating and/or hosting of the Chapter Website through GroupSpaces.

General Meeting MinutesCalifornia Land Surveyors Association-San Diego Chapter November 18, 2015 November 18, 2015
Meeting held at Phil’s Barbeque – 3750 Sports Arena Blvd. San Diego, CA 92110
President, Steven Heise opened the meeting at 7:25 PM and welcomed all the attended members.
Executive Board members brought the motion to the general membership to Fund the Curt Brown and Dana Sequin Scholarships in the amounts of Two thousand five hundred each at the State CLSA Level, motion was seconded, the general members in attendance voted and approved.
Director, Armand M. Introduced the evening’s Guest speaker Jon Warren, PLS in the state of Washington and 2015-2016 President of the National Society of Professional Surveyors (NSPS).
Jon discussed the current status of NSPS, where NSPS is going as a national organization, and what NSPS can or should offer as content to its membership and what the benefits of membership are. A Q&A on what CLSA members in attendance think NSPS should be for them will follow.
About NSPS
NSPS provides the platform by which members can share their thoughts and opinions about our common interests through business meetings /committees, regional groups, and student chapters. It also provides a forum for input from other groups such as the National Association of County Surveyors, members of state boards of registration, and the Forum for State Surveying Society Executives. Membership is open to all professional surveyors and to persons trained, registered, or interested in the profession of surveying and mapping.
Vice President Mark Macfarlane awarded Jon Warren with certificates of appreciation on behalf of the Chapter and thanked him for taking time to come and speak.
This month chapter meeting attendance was 16 members.
The meeting was adjourned at 8:21 pm.

Thanks To Our Golf Scholarship Fundraiser SponsorsMore than $6,000 Raised On October 2, San Diego CLSA held their annual Scholarship fundraiser golf tournament once again at The Vineyard in Escondido. More than 60 golfers enjoyed the first great weather day of fall with perfect temperatures and clear skies.
