Club Prior Press
OCTOBER/NOVEMBER 2019
As we approach the end of another year I tend to reflect back on the many successful
and fun things we did at Club Prior. The energy, attendance and friendships that have
developed this year have been fun to watch. One of the questions I get asked frequent-
ly is “how can you work out in the open with all of us playing around you?” My an-
swer to them is simply “how could I not?” The mere fact that everyone takes the time
to come in and seek out friends, games, food, exercise and just to find out what’s new,
keeps me loving my job and serving the people that use our facility. I hear nothing but
laughs, great conversations and even learn something new once in a while. It’s when I
shut the open sign off, lock the door and people go home that it truly get’s lonely.
Most seniors can relate to going home alone and that’s why Club Prior has the energy
it does. I encourage you that if you are one that hasn’t taken that step into a “senior
center” because- “I’m not old” - Club Prior is different from the rest. Because we are
nested in with the Twisted Loop and Library we have many that just step in to sit on
the couches, knit, read, watch the game and take an occasional nap. The process
works in that it doesn’t take long before you find yourself visiting and participating.
Don’t spend this winter being cooped up at home alone. I challenge you to visit us—
make that first step and peak that head in and say hello. I’ll make you comfortable, get
you involved and maybe even make a friend or two. We have something you’d be in-
terested in...if not—let me know what you like to do and I’ll arrange it. It won’t take
long to find Club Prior as part of your social family during the week. Take one of our
trips, play a game, stop in for coffee, pick up a brochure, take an exercise class. There
are no memberships, dues, or fees for any of our ongoing programs and they are open
to anyone ages 55+. I look forward to writing the end of year/new year newsletter—
but for now—enjoy fall, all the colors this great State has to offer! Walk a trail, take a
boat ride, sit on a deck or walk downtown. Club Prior has the BEST view in town to
watch the construction! Pull up a chair—even with your grandchildren to watch the
tractors, loaders, dumpers, cranes and skids! If you really want to make a difference
and pay it forward...bake some cookies and deliver them to the construction workers in
town. Love the city you reside in!
