Obituaries Anna Mae (Shanks) Brown, 67, of Girard, died Monday, February 18, 2019 at her home. She was born September 2, 1951 in Columbus. She was the daughter of Orlan and Lu- cille (Bruce) Shanks. Anna Mae graduated from Columbus Unified High School with the class of 1969. She graduated from Kansas State Univer- sity in 1973. Anna Mae and Dennis Brown were united in mar- riage July 20, 1974. She was a devoted wife, moth- er, and grandmother. Time with all family and extend- ed family was very impor- tant to her. Anna Mae was ex- tremely involved with 4-H and youth activities throughout life. She worked as the Crawford County Family and Con- sumer Sciences Agent from 1990 to 2014. She was a member of the Mid Ameri- ca Sewing Guild. In her retirement, Anna Mae enjoyed sewing, making quilts and her grandchildren, who were her joy and passion. Anna Mae is survived by her husband of 44 years, Dennis, of the home, Anna Mae Brown, 67, Girard daughters Ginger Carlisle (husband Chad) of Attica and Amy Dronberger (hus- band Jason) of Perkins, Oklahoma, son Dale Brown (wife Kelly) of Stamping Ground, Ken- tucky, along with beloved grandchildren Cale and Peytyn Carlisle, Samantha, Wyatt, and Clayton Brown, Madison and soon to arrive Luke Dronberger. Anna Mae is also survived by her sister, Linda (Kenney) Griffitt and brothers Den- nis (Vicki), Bob (Marta) and Bruce John Shanks. Her survivors also includ- ed many nieces, nephews and other close family members. Anna Mae was pre- ceded in death by her par- ents, grandson Cooper Car- lisle and mother and father-in-law, Audrey and Jim Brown. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, February 23, at the Smith- Carson-Wall Funeral Home in Girard. Pastor Chuck Harris will officiate. Burial will be in the Girard Cemetery. The family will re- ceive friends from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m., Friday at the Smith-Carson-Wall Funer- al Home where friends may call after 2 p.m., Fri- day. Born July 19, 1932, in Picher, Okla., Charles was the son of John Noble and Maude E. (Davis) Del- mont. Charlie served in the United States Army serv- ing during the Korean Con- flict. He was a member of the V. F. W. of Baxter Springs, Charlie enjoyed bird hunting, fishing, rais- ing his garden and spend- ing time with grandchil- dren. He would sit in his re- cliner in the front living room and watch the deer come up to the bay win- dow. Charlie and Mary would visit Junior and Ruth and sit on the porch and eat together daily. Charlie worked for the United States Government as a mine inspector for 26 years, before his retire- ment. Charles Delmont, Sr., Columbus Charlie was united in marriage to Mary Eliza- beth Brown July 5, 1991 in Stanardsville, VA. She sur- vives of the home. In addi- tion to his wife, Charlie is survived by one son, Charles Raymond Delmont Jr. (wife LaTasha) of Ri- verton, three daughters, Debbie Hammond (hus- band Mickey) of Rogers- ville, Mo., Sandy Delmont and Susan Delmont. Six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren along with several great-great grandchildren also survive. Charlie was preceded in death by his parents, seven brothers, Jack Noble Delmont, Bill Delmont, Paul Delmont, Ralph Del- mont, Earnest Delmont, John Orbin Delmont, Sr., Robert Delmont and one sister, Betty Lou Gilmore. Cherokee County Jail Report Lillian Slavens, 23, was arrested Thursday by Baxter Springs Police offi- cers on charges of driving under the influence and was released on $2,500 bail. Charles Robert Lawellin, 48, was arrested Wednesday by Cherokee County Sheriff's deputies on charges of failure to ap- pear and is being held with- out bail. Randy Wayne Shoe- maker, 26, was arrested Wednesday by Cherokee County Sheriff's deputies on charges of probation vi- olation and is being held in lieu of $10,000 bail. Roy Newton Turner, 32, was arrested Tuesday by Cherokee County Sher- iff's deputies on charges in- cluding possession of cer- tain hallucinogenic drugs, possess opiates, opium, narcotic drug and certain stimulant, use or possess drug paraphernalia for use in the human body and un- lawful registration and was released on $5,750 bail. Tim Andrew Green, 42, was arrested Tuesday by Cherokee County Sher- iff's deputies on three counts of failure to appear and is being held without bail. Conard, 87, of rural Chetopa, died at 11:05 a.m., Wednesday, February 20, 2019 at Free- man West Hospital in Jop- lin, Mo. Born January 21, 1932, in rural Labette County, Bonnie was the daughter of Arthur and Frances (McCollum) Hat- field. As a young girl, Bonnie grew up in Chetopa where she attended school and graduated from Cheto- pa High School. Bonnie and Raymond Dean Conard were united in marriage June 8, 1948, in Bentonville, Arkansas. Following marriage, the couple lived in rural Cher- okee County where they raised pecans, farmed, raised cattle, and owned Cherry Creek Orchards. The couple had celebrated 70 years of marriage prior to Raymond’s death De- cember 14, 2018. She was baptized in the Methodist church. Bonnie enjoyed spending time with her grandchil- dren and great-grandchil- dren, traveling, and fish- ing. Bonnie is survived by her son Alan Conard and daughter, Cindi McElroy both of Chetopa and sister, Wanda Vaughn of El Cen- tro, Calif. Two grandchil- dren, Aaron Conard (Nich- ole) and Anthony Conard (Angie), great-grandchil- dren, Laken McKinzie (Kasey), Riley Conard (Al- lison), Cambri Mosley (Tucker), Brali Conard, and Lilli Conard, a great- great-grandson, Rhyker Conard-Johnson and a great-great-granddaughter, Callie Conard also survive. In addition to her hus- band, one son, Steven Dean Conard, two brothers, Doyle Hatfield and Gary Hatfield and sister, Marva Lee Puckett, preceded Bonnie in death. Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m., Monday, February 25, at Oak Hill Cemetery in Chetopa. Obituaries

Anna Mae (Shanks) Brown, 67, of Girard, died Monday, February 18, 2019 at her home. She was born September 2, 1951 in Columbus. She was the daughter of Orlan and Lu-cille (Bruce) Shanks.

Anna Mae graduated from Columbus Unified High School with the class of 1969. She graduated from Kansas State Univer-sity in 1973.

Anna Mae and Dennis Brown were united in mar-riage July 20, 1974. She was a devoted wife, moth-er, and grandmother. Time with all family and extend-ed family was very impor-tant to her.

Randy Wayne Shoe-maker, 26, was arrested Wednesday by Cherokee County Sheriff's deputies on charges of probation vi-olation and is being held in lieu of $10,000 bail.

Roy Newton Turner, 32, was arrested Tuesday by Cherokee County Sher-iff's deputies on charges in-cluding possession of cer-tain hallucinogenic drugs,

possess opiates, opium, narcotic drug and certain stimulant, use or possess drug paraphernalia for use in the human body and un-lawful registration and was released on $5,750 bail.

Tim Andrew Green, 42, was arrested Tuesday by Cherokee County Sher-iff's deputies on three counts of failure to appear and is being held without bail.

A one-vehicle acci-dent occurred February 2 at approximately 12:38 p.m. A vehicle driven by Gloria Turnbough, 73, Baxter Springs, backed 114 feet down Kansas Avenue, then backed into a grass lot to turn around. She struck and broke a power pole near 10th Street. Baxter Springs Police officers investigat-ed.

Bonnie L. Conard, 87, of rural Chetopa, died at 11:05 a.m., Wednesday, February 20, 2019 at Free-man West Hospital in Jop-lin, Mo.

Born January 21, 1932, in rural Labette County, Bonnie was the daughter of Arthur and Frances (McCollum) Hat-field. As a young girl, Bonnie grew up in Chetopa where she attended school and graduated from Cheto-pa High School.

Bonnie and Raymond Dean Conard were united in marriage June 8, 1948, in Bentonville, Arkansas. Following marriage, the couple lived in rural Cher-okee County where they raised pecans, farmed, raised cattle, and owned Cherry Creek Orchards. The couple had celebrated 70 years of marriage prior to Raymond’s death De-cember 14, 2018.

She was baptized in the Methodist church. Bonnie enjoyed spending time with her grandchil-dren and great-grandchil-dren, traveling, and fish-ing.

Bonnie is survived by her son Alan Conard and daughter, Cindi McElroy both of Chetopa and sister, Wanda Vaughn of El Cen-

tro, Calif. Two grandchil-dren, Aaron Conard (Nich-ole) and Anthony Conard (Angie), great-grandchil-dren, Laken McKinzie (Kasey), Riley Conard (Al-lison), Cambri Mosley (Tucker), Brali Conard, and Lilli Conard, a great-great-grandson, Rhyker Conard-Johnson and a great-great-granddaughter, Callie Conard also survive.

In addition to her hus-band, one son, Steven Dean Conard, two brothers, Doyle Hatfield and Gary Hatfield and sister, Marva Lee Puckett, preceded Bonnie in death.

Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m., Monday, February 25, at Oak Hill Cemetery in Chetopa. Friends may call at their convenience from noon until 5 p.m., Sunday, at the Bath-Forbes-Hoff-man Funeral Home in Chetopa.
