PARISH MISSION STATEMENT Our Lady of the Annunciation Roman Catholic Parish is a people of living faith rooted in the Gospel,

centered on the Eucharist and led by the Holy Spirit. We are inspired by the example of Mary to continue the mission of Jesus Christ by ministering to all.

ALL SAINTS & ALL SOULS

This weekend we celebrate both the Solemnity of All Saints and the Commemoration of All

Souls. This is a time for us not only to pray for our loved ones who have gone before us, but

to ask the intercession of those saintly souls who have entered into the presence of God and

cheer us on to win the race unto eternal life. Among the holy ones of heaven we now have

three popes: Saint John XXIII, Blessed Paul VI and Saint John Paul II. May our heavenly

heroes inspire us to love God and neighbor by saying it, meaning it and showing it from the

heart. May our sacrifices be pleasing to God for our beloved dead and for the living who are

still on the journey to eternity.

STEWARDSHIP FAIR

Please join us next weekend for the annual Stewardship Fair. The Fair will be held in the parish hall/

gym after all the Masses next weekend. Take the opportunity to explore how you may serve the Lord

in gladness and live your faith to the praise and glory of God!

POLITICAL RESPECT & FLIERS

As Christians, it is essential that we pray for the nation at this time of elections and that we show respect,

dignity and charity toward everyone involved. There are no perfect candidates just as there are no perfect

people besides Jesus and Mary. The reality is that we will have to work with whomever is elected and

must pray for them daily. For guidance in voting you may wish to consult the U.S. Catholic Bishops

website under “Faithful Citizenship” at www.usccb.org. While neither the Archdiocese nor the Parish

permits political fliers placed on cars, you may go to web-sites of Catholic organizations for their

insights. In the end, you should pray for illumination as to how best to promote the common good

(CCC 1913) and then vote. May Our Lady, Mary Immaculate and all the saints intercede for America.

PRAYER OF BLESSED ELIZABETH OF THE TRINITY

O my God, Trinity whom I adore, let me entirely forget myself that I may abide in You,

still and peaceful as if my soul were already in eternity; let nothing disturb my peace nor

separate me from You, O my unchanging God, but that each moment may take me further

into the depths of your mystery! Pacify my soul! Make it your heaven, your beloved home and

place of your repose; let me never leave You there alone, but may I be ever attentive,

ever alert in my faith, ever adoring and all given up to your creative action.

O my beloved Christ, crucified for love, would that I might be for You a spouse of your heart!

I would anoint You with glory, I would love You–even unto death! Yet I sense my frailty and

ask You to adorn me with yourself; identify my soul with all the movements of your soul,

submerge me, overwhelm me, substitute yourself in me that my life may become but a

reflection of your life.

Come into me as Adorer, Redeemer and Savior.

O Eternal Word, Word of my God, would that I might spend my life listening to You,

would that I might be fully receptive to learn all from You; in all darkness, all loneliness,

all weakness, may I ever keep my eyes fixed on You and abide under great light;

O my Beloved Star, fascinate me so that I may never be able to leave your radiance.

O Consuming Fire, Spirit of Love, descend into my soul and make all in me as an incarnation of the Word, that I may be

to Him a super-added humanity wherein He renews his mystery; and You O Father, bestow Yourself and bend down to

your little creature, seeing in her only your beloved Son in whom You are well pleased.

O my Three, my All, my Beatitude, infinite Solitude, Immensity in whom I lose myself,

I give myself to You as a prey to be consumed; enclose Yourself in me that I may be absorbed in You

so as to contemplate in your light the abyss of your Splendor!

Reflection: God does not command that while you are a pilgrim on earth you must forego creaturely consolations;

indeed, God created all things to serve you. But God did command that you use them with moderation and temperance,

that you share them cheerfully with the needy, and that you use them to attain God. —St. Robert Bellarmine

► Women’s Guild General Meeting will be next Wednesday, Nov. 12, 2014. The Guild member s

will gather for the 8:30AM Mass and rosary in the church. This will be followed by a short business meeting and simple breakfast at St. Magdalene Hall. The highlight of the gathering is a presentation

by the very talented and engaging speaker, our very own Sharon Freisinger. Her topic is practical

and easy-to-follow and decorating ideas for the holidays and more. Everyone is welcome to an enjoyable morning.

► Adopt a Family for Thanksgiving Project 2014 we thank all par ishioners who have sent in their response slips

or checks. We need many more donors to cover our parish’s commitment to families in need

for this year. Please fill out a registration flyer with your pledge, drop it by the parish office, or in the collection baskets during the weekend Masses. You will get a reply with details about the

family you adopt. For more information, please call Sr. Cristina at 299-9111 or Joe/Beverly Rudys

at 281-5692 or email them at [email protected].

► GEMS-Senior Ministry-Thanksgiving Luncheon It will be on Tuesday, Nov. 18, in St. Magdalene Hall from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM. This is one gathering we look forward to in thanksgiving for our beloved parish and the seniors among us who enjoy good health

and loving friendships. Mark your calendar and please, call Mari at 299-9111 to reserve your place and to let her know

what food you are going to bring to share. Thanks in advance to the planning group who is helping to organize

this joyful event. ► Thank You all parishioners who participated in “40 Days for Life Prayer” Vigil on the days that Annunciation was

assigned. This was a great way to observe Respect Life Month. We heed the Church’s call to promote a Culture of Life. Pope Francis reminds us, “Even the weakest and most vulnerable, the sick, the old, the unborn and the poor,

are masterpieces of God’s creation, made in His own image, destined to live forever, and deserving of the utmost

reverence & respect” (Day of Life greeting). We also thank Cathy Sensi for coordinating the sign-ups, Annie Leos,

Loren Quintana and John Sensi for their help, as well as the Marianites and the Knights of Columbus for assisting at different Masses. God’s blessings on each of you. Thank You!

Second Stage: The Catechumenate. With the Rite of Acceptance during the 5:00 PM

Vigil Mass next weekend, the catechumens and candidates enter into the longest and most formal part of the RCIA process.

During this phase they are expected to participate with the whole parish community in the Sunday celebrations. They share

in the Liturgy of the Word, led by the RCIA Team. Through prayer, learning and coming to know other Catholics,

catechumens discover the love and power of God in their lives and in the Church. Please continue to pray for them.

REGULAR CLASSES THIS WEEK! Elementary RE — 4:15-5:45 pm in classrooms Middle School RE — 6-7:30 pm in classrooms

Please prayerfully consider adopting

a family in need this Thanksgiving.

ALL are welcomed to join SYMBOLON and embark on a

sacred journey of faith with other parishioners.

Topic for this Sunday: WHO IS JESUS?

Just a Good Man or Lord of our Lives? Today, most people agree that Jesus was a historical figure. However, the

idea that Jesus is not just a moral or spiritual teacher, but God himself, is as

controversial now as it was in Jesus’ own time. The question Jesus asked

the apostles, “But who do you say that I am?” is the same question he asks

each of us throughout the centuries. How we answer his questions makes all

the difference fo r our lives. It is a decision that will last throughout eternity.

Come as you are able. Each class is a new, independent topic . All learning completed during class time with no homework.

We meet on Sundays from 2-4pm in St. Magdalene Hall. Call 296-0411 for more information or questions.

Topic for Wednesday, November 5, 2014 is Acts 9:

The Persecutor Becomes the

Preacher 6:30-8:30pm in the CC.

the flyer in today’s bulletin for dates and times. There is a particular need for more Communion

Ministers at all Masses, and for additional Sacristans at the 5:30 pm weekday Masses.

Liturgical Ministers!!! You all should have received a mailing with information about Fall and

Christmas ministry opportunities. Additional forms are available in the Adornment Room and

at the Parish Office. There is a special need for representatives from the various Liturgical

Ministries (Altar Servers, Communion Ministers, Greeters, Lectors, and Musicians) to help out at the Parish

Ministry Fair, November 8 & 9. The Ministry Fair is a chance both to showcase our parish’s ministries AND

to get more people actively involved in them. Share your enthusiasm with others and encourage them to let

their light shine!

Please keep the sick and homebound of our parish in your prayers.
