The School has exceptional facilities; state-of-the-artclassrooms, a professional recording studio, superbpractice rooms and a recital hall with exceptionalacoustics.

Pupils are given outstanding opportunities forperformances. We hold lunchtime concerts everyweekday, and all pupils perform at these. Chambermusic and orchestral concerts take place regularly, and every year performances are given at theSouthbank Centre and Wigmore Hall. Visitingconductors have included Sir Simon Rattle, Paul Daniel

and Karina Canellakis. In recent years masterclasseshave been given by Vladimir Ashkenazy, Zakhar Bron,Andras Schiff, Natalia Gutman, Angela Hewitt and CraigOgden among others.

All pupils are encouraged to share their love andpassion for music with the wider community, be itparticipating one of our many evening performances, free lunchtime concerts at the School, or in our UKand overseas outreach programmes.

Most Purcell pupils go on to music college and sometake up places at Oxbridge or other universities. Weare very proud of our former students who haveenjoyed national or international success. Just a fewof our distinguished alumni include Oliver KnussenCBE; Catrin Finch; BBC Young Musician of the Yearwinners, Nicholas Daniel, Lara Melda, and MartinJames Bartlett.
