Interval training is used inmost exercises the bestway to describe it is a mix

of low to high intensities alllinked together. Intervaltraining will involve a

different numbers of high and low intensity intervals for all over the body;this might also have different lengths oftime for each interval.

This type of exercise allows you toburn more calories in a shorter period oftime and should improve your aerobiccapability at a faster rate. It’s not easyas it is not for everyone. You mustremember to think of yourhealthy and safety first. Itis very hard on the body,so think about your limitations and what youshould and shouldn’t bedoing. This type of trainingis not for beginners, people with cardiovascu-lar problems or other riskfactors.

If you are a beginner I would recommend you try a circuit class firstbefore you do this to see if your bodycan keep up with a quick change ofpace.

There are different types of namesand approaches for most interval training. It is all really along the samelines just adjusted different ability’s.Some just call it circuits, others just interval training and then it can becalled HIT which is high interval training,HIIT, which means high intensity intervaltraining.

This type of training with bursts of harder exercises or move intense movesmay be more effective at fat loss thanmoderate intensity training. This is

because your heart rate will change;your body will not be able to plateau asit would not have had time to get usedto the exercise. This should increase yourmetabolism. It will help improve your allover fitness and performance. You mustbuild your stamina with cardio workoutsbefore adding interval training to yourroutine. The exercises should be trainingand conditioning both your anaerobicand aerobic energy systems. It willincrease the amount of calories youburn compared to a normal gym session or workout once your have builtyour stamina up. A session like this

should not be done everyday and should bean added plan to any exercise routine if possible.

How to plan a simpleinterval workout at home:

Choose a group of exercise like step-ups,squats, jump squats, jumping jacks, push-ups,running on the spot,

mountain climbers on the floor andbasic crunches. Then set a timer thatshould go off every 20,30 or 40 secondsgive you self a rest period of 20-40 seconds as well and choose when fitsyou. You should try to repeat 3-4 times.Once you are able to do this you canmake this harder by adding less rest, weights or harder exercises like the lovely burpes. Please remember to takeyour time and rest when your bodyneeds it, listen to you body and neverover do it!

Lasting Powers of Attorney are legaldocuments that allow you to appointsomeone to make decisions for you in

respect of your financial arrangements orhealth. There are two types of LastingPower and you can have both or either ofthem. Without a Lasting Power ofAttorney there is no one, neither yourspouse, parents, siblings or children whowill legally be allowed to make decisionson your behalf should you be unable tomake them due to mental or physicalincapacity.

The time to consider making a LastingPower is not when you think that you maybe losing your capacity but whilst youknow that you still have mental capacity.Without this document someone, and itdoes not have to be someone you know, can make an application to the Court ofProtection to be appointed as yourDeputy and they will then be able tomake decisions for you. The personappointed might not be someone youwould have chosen yourself and theprocess is long and expensive.

Lasting Powers give you the opportunityto make your own choices and decisionsand to provide a degree of comfort toyour relatives in knowing that there will besomeone who will be able to help youshould the need arise. Like an insurancepolicy, you may never need them but ifyou do they will be invaluable.

If you are considering Lasting Powers ofAttorney, here are some matters to consider:-

• Who to appoint? You canappoint anyone over the age of 18 who isnot bankrupt and who has mentalcapacity themselves. You can appointmore than one person.

• If you appoint more than oneperson you can choose whether they areto act together or independently of eachother.

• What if they can’t act? You canalso appoint Replacement Attorneys.

• What will they be able to do?Anything that you can but restrictions, guidance and conditions can be includ-ed.

• Does anyone else need to beinvolved? You will need someone to|confirm that you have capacity, thatyou know what you are signing and thatyou have not been put under any pressure to sign. This person can be afriend or a professional.

• You can choose to notify someone that you are signing the LastingPower.Everyone should have a Lasting Power ofAttorney!Next steps? If you would like to discuss this further thenplease do not hesitate to contact NicolaDudley at PWT Advice LLP on 0845 8339025 or 07900 931478 [email protected]

NACS Chimney Sweeps are verymindful and conscious of mak-ing as little mess as possible, and

are in fact trained in the prevention ofdust escaping during sweeping.Normally Chimney Sweeps will need aclear passage to the chimney and adequate space to work in. They maysuggest you clear any ornaments fromthe hearth and mantelpiece, and perhaps you could clear the grate ofany fuel, ash or rubbish etc before thesweep arrives. Gas and oil flues will also need to beswept. It is essential that all flues arekept clean and clear of debris and vermin nests. It will also help with theprevention of chimney fires and evencarbon monoxide poisoning. If youhave just moved house, then it is important you have your chimneyswept as soon as possible as you maynot necessarily know when it was lastcleaned properly by a professionalChimney Sweep. Always ensure youreceive a NACS Certificate of ChimneySweeping. Your Chimney Sweep willalso provide advice on your Chimney, heating appliances, what fuels to use,and the best practice for fuel storage.

Chimney Sweeps that are Members ofthe National Association of ChimneySweeps (NACS) undertake an extensivetraining program and have to successfully complete a full assessmentprior to becoming and trading as aNACS Member. All NACS Membersmust hold valid insurance for ChimneySweeping, of which they provide acopy of to the Association on an annual basis. They must also have thecorrect equipment to be able to undertake the job which is checked atthe time of their assessment. How to carve a Jack O’ LanternAwell carved pumpkin will impress your friends, neighbours and best of all, you're

trick-or-treaters! Carving a pumpkin into a Jack-O'-Lantern freehand is the tra-ditional way of doing it, it is very easy and only takes a few basic tools. These includea large spoon or ice-cream scoop, a thin bladed knife and some newspaper.

With a long, thin bladed knife, cut out the top of the pumpkin a few inches outfrom the stem. The hole should be large enough to allow you to scoop out the guts(seeds and stringy membrane) by hand and with a large spoon. Generally, the sizeof the hole should be about two-thirds the diameter of the pumpkin. While you cancut a round circle out, you'll find that cutting a five or six-sided opening will work thebest. As you cut out the top hole, angle the knife so that the lid and hole will besomewhat cone shaped. This will help prevent the lid from falling into the hole. Nowuse the spoon to scrap the inside walls clean.

Inspect the surface of the pumpkin to decide the best side to carve your face. Now, visualising the face you want to carve, use your knife to carefully cut out theindividual parts of the face or you can pre-mark the pumpkin by using a crayon todraw the face onto the surface of the pumpkin and cut through the lines you drew. When you are finished cutting, carefully push out the pieces to view the final results.

Make sure that you have scraped the bottom of the pumpkin flat, so that the

candle will sit level in the pumpkin. A Votive candle, placed in a clear glass candleholder is safer and will actually last quite long. Also, plain white candles giveoff the most light and will illuminate the inside of your Jack-O'-Lantern the best.

Shocking as it may seem, we havealready started to think about creating labels for Christmas card

envelopes with our clients and havedecided to run a workshop on the 7thNovember at 9.30-11.30 in Chaldon for£25 per person on how to accomplishthis task using Excel and Word. There areonly 5 places so if this is of interest, please give us a call.

I want to also talk about BACKING UPin this issue, partly because someonewho is now a client, recently noticed hissystem slowing down and rather thandoing anything about it immediatelydue to pressures at home he also didnot make time to back up. His systemsuddenly failed.

Although we can, in some casesrecover data from a hard drive byremoving it and attaching it to anothermachine, in this case it was impossiblebecause malware had corrupted the

drive. He lostlegal papersand all of hisphotos of arecent tripto SouthAmerica aswell aseverythingelse.

P l e a s e ,p l e a s eBACK UP. You can use a SeagateExpansion Drive and set the back toautomatically run every month or useMemory sticks and manually back up.It’s not a job that should be left tochance. Don’t Put Off tomorrow whatyou can do today!
