The pedestrian bridge planned for G
arland Ave w
ould provide a connection for residents and visitors to w
alk or ride bikes to destinations on either side of the NSC
. Residents, visitors, and school children have
comm
ented on the importance of the bridge to reach residential areas, parks, schools, and the M
arketplace shopping center. Placem
aking evaluations show a need for increased safety in the area and accessible
connections to destinations. There is also a need to enhance the existing environm
ent through landscaping and am
enities, such as seating and activities at both ends of the bridge. Charrette results show
a desire for a “green” bridge that is also a gatew
ay feature, building identity of the neighborhoods.
