The pedestrian bridge planned for G

ould provide a connection for residents and visitors to w

alk or ride bikes to destinations on either side of the NSC

. Residents, visitors, and school children have

comm

ented on the importance of the bridge to reach residential areas, parks, schools, and the M

arketplace shopping center. Placem

aking evaluations show a need for increased safety in the area and accessible

connections to destinations. There is also a need to enhance the existing environm

a desire for a “green” bridge that is also a gatew

GREENE ST BRIDGE

Residents and visitors drive, w

alk, and bike over the Greene St Bridge to cross the Spokane R

iver. Pedestrians and bicyclists pass under the bridge on the C

entennial Trail, where they can view

the historic arches and the river. Placem

aking evaluations show a need to protect, enhance, connect, and rem

ake the area by providing activities under the N

SC Skyw

ay and creating a trail hub for the Children of the Sun Trail and

its intersections with other nearby trails. C

harrette results show a desire for a m

ore activated space with

landmarks and w

aynding features.
