The servicing method with the oil-wells through pumping is applied on a large scale due to its great advantage sugh a simple construction and easiness in controlling the units. But its main advantage consists in its specific low cost as per ton of crude oil. There are several methods of transmitting the energy from the surface to the bottom pump:

Rod pumping (with full or tubular section)

Rodless pumping (hydraulic pumps with piston or submersible pumps)

The most numerous pumping plants are those with rods, which can be devided in separate units or pumping power-stations. The beam pumping units are the most numerous because of their simple construction.
