There are now only 5 reasons to leave your home and they are as follows: Shopping for essenal items Exercise Care giving Educaon* To get vaccinated *Only vulnerable children (as deemed by other agencies such as Child Protecon) or essenal worker s children will be able to aend school unl we are advised otherwise by the State Government and the Department of Educaon. As always we will endeavour to communicate with you as soon as we can once we have informaon pertaining to schools and the educaon of your children. Can I remind all our Coral Park families that we do not receive informaon earlier than the general public. So I ask that you again, support us and trust that we are working relessly behind the scenes to ensure you are informed as soon as possible of any and all changes to the way we must operate. Please stay safe as we again navigate our way through the coming days and weeks. Child Safe - Smart Watches In my last communicaon to you, I wrote about smart watches and the safety implicaons that these devices have on our students. It has become apparent that some members of our community are advising their students to hit panic alert buons if they have an issue at school. This is a pracce that cannot connue. The process for communicang with your child is to call the office and messages will be passed on to your child. If your child has an issue at school their appropriate and safest response is to seek out a staff member and get the assistance they need, not hit a panic buon on a smart watch. If this pracce connues I will be leſt with no choice but to ban students who are disregarding the safe use of these watches at school from wearing them. Thank you to the majority of students who wear a smart watch to school and use them responsibly and effecvely. Please advise your child of the appropriate ways to get support if they have an issue at school, by seeking assistance from a staff member. Cooking Classes Coral Park is very fortunate to be a part of this program, however as it stands we only have two familes registered for the program. Can I encourage you to seriously consider being part of this iniave and contact the office if you are interested. It would be very disappoinng if we had to cancel the program due to a lack of parcipants. Melissa Drive (Changes to Parking) The council has informed us that they are changing the parking regulaons in Melissa Drive. New signage will be installed in the coming weeks. Please ensure that you familiarise yourself with the new regulaons and abide by them, as we dont want you to incur a fine once they are in place. Jusn Thompson Principal

From the Principal

COVID Once again, at the time I am writing the newsletter for this week we are faced with the uncertainty of how this virus will impact the state of Victoria and in particular schools. Tomorrow will be a pupil free day. As of Monday all students will be engaging in remote learning. Please check you emails for further information.

There are now only 5 reasons to leave your home and they are as follows: Shopping for essential items Exercise Care giving Education* To get vaccinated

*Only vulnerable children (as deemed by other agencies such as Child Protection) or essential worker’s children will be able to attend school until we are advised otherwise by the State Government and the Department of Education.

As always we will endeavour to communicate with you as soon as we can once we have information pertaining to schools and the education of your children. Can I remind all our Coral Park families that we do not receive information earlier than the general public. So I ask that you again, support us and trust that we are working tirelessly behind the scenes to ensure you are informed as soon as possible of any and all changes to the way we must operate. Please stay safe as we again navigate our way through the coming days and weeks.

Child Safe - Smart Watches In my last communication to you, I wrote about smart watches and the safety implications that these devices have on our students. It has become apparent that some members of our community are advising their students to hit panic alert buttons if they have an issue at school. This is a practice that cannot continue. The process for communicating with your child is to call the office and messages will be passed on to your child. If your child has an issue at school their appropriate and safest response is to seek out a staff member and get the assistance they need, not hit a panic button on a smart watch. If this practice continues I will be left with no choice but to ban students who are disregarding the safe use of these watches at school from wearing them. Thank you to the majority of students who wear a smart watch to school and use them responsibly and effectively. Please advise your child of the appropriate ways to get support if they have an issue at school, by seeking assistance from a staff member.

Cooking Classes Coral Park is very fortunate to be a part of this program, however as it stands we only have two familes registered for the program. Can I encourage you to seriously consider being part of this initiative and contact the office if you are interested. It would be very disappointing if we had to cancel the program due to a lack of participants.

Melissa Drive (Changes to Parking) The council has informed us that they are changing the parking regulations in Melissa Drive. New signage will be installed in the coming weeks. Please ensure that you familiarise yourself with the new regulations and abide by them, as we don’t want you to incur a fine once they are in place.

SCHOOL CAMP

Year 4, 5 & 6 students are looking forward to going on camp in Term 4. School camp is a fantastic opportunity for students to learn new skills, participate in team building activities and experience new adventures in a safe and supportive environment with their friends and peers. Please return the permission forms and deposit by Friday 4th June to secure your child’s position.

HEADLICE - “ONCE A WEEK, TAKE A PEAK”

Please remember to check your child’s hair regularly for headlice and treat their hair if required. Regular hair checks will help minimise any

potential problems with headlice in the school. Please also inform the school if your child does have a case of headlice, so we can inform their class to be vigilant.

SPARE CHANGE OF CLOTHES

As the weather gets wet we recommend children have a change of clothes in their bag in case of accidents.

Changes of clothes are often in short supply in winter when students fall into puddles or slip in the mud. We always appreciate donations of school uniform that your children have grown out of and no longer need.

AUSLAN Students have been learning about the home, rooms in the house and

furniture and objects inside the home. Students created a house using signs they had learnt and demonstrated a sign they learnt.

Page 5: Coral Park Primary School

Last Thursday year 2 students learned about sustainability at CERES Environment Park. Students had the opportunity to go on an environmental walk where they learned about a ‘rubbish trap’ that CERES have made to prevent rubbish from getting into our waterways. They investigated composting as a way to reduce waste while also helping the garden. At the end of the day they were able to have a play on the sustainable playground.

Don’t miss out on this exciting FREE

family cooking program that will provide

you with cooking skills, knowledge,

ingredients and the opportunity to meet

people from our community.

We hate to sound like a broken record but some students absences or number of late arrivals are far too high...

Absences: It is a legal responsibility for schools to keep track of student absences. Please remember to call the school

before 9am on the morning of your child’s absence or send a note prior to the absence (if planned). This will minimise

the need for us to follow up with families.

School Start Time: A reminder that school officially starts at 9.00am and students are expected to be in class by

8.55am ready to begin learning time right on 9am. After the roll has been taken, students who arrive late are expected

to sign in at the office so they are legally accounted for. Likewise, if a student needs to leave early they are required to

be signed out at the office. Please ensure you arrive on time. At the gate each morning there are often at least 12

students/families who are told to run to class as the music is either playing or about to. It’s not hard to be here right on

time, if you need a wake up phone call each morning to ensure you are on time, just let the office know, so we can help

you arrive on time each day.

Coral Park Primary is participating in the “Wonder Recycling Rewards for schools”

to earn sports equipment.

Collect your bread bags and tags (any brand) and put them in the recycling box outside the office.

The more we recycle, the more equipment we can earn!
