Projects such as the Waste Water project are things the city must deal with to main- tain the health and safety of the residents. Other projects such as the RV Dump Station help make Wendell an at- tractive place for tourist and other travelers to visit. This Friday, February 28th at 7 p.m., a townhall meeting will be held at the New Life Community Church (800 West Main Street) to give the citizens of Wendell an up-date on current and up coming projects within the City of Wendell. Projects to be discussed include: City Park revitaliza- tion, Downtown revitaliza- tion, water curtailment, and the Library/Senior Center. There will also be a special presentation by Anythings Pawsable regarding the need for a better facility to house stray animals. The current fa- cility is too small to care for these animals (find out more about Anythings Pawsable by visiting their FaceBook page). Refreshments will be served after the presentation. Last Saturday at the Ford Idaho Center, the Dietrich Blue Devil Ladies took on the Mackay Miners. It was a close low scoring game throughout, with Dietrich never in the lead by more than five points, and the teams left the court at halftime with the score tied at 8 to 8. The Blue Dev- ils came out to take the sec- ond half by scoring on nearly 30% of their shots and end- ing the game with 31 points to Mackay’s 26. The top scor- ing players were Jacey Shaw and Katee Hubert who each scored 13 points. Their other tournament games included wins over Council (47-29) and Rock- land (35-34). Head Coach Acey Shaw couldn’t be more proud of his girls and with the loss of only one senior, he may yet have another opportunity to take the Blue Devil Ladies to the state tournament next year. The only other school to win four championships in a row was Meridian (class 5A) between 1980 and 1983. The Hagerman Pirate La- dies met with disappointment at the state tournament, los- ing their first game 33 to 47 against Prairie (the team that went on to win the 1AD1 Tournament). They went on to win their second game 50 to 20 over Notus, but Challis took their last game with a 30 to 27 win. ––– The Boy’s 1AD2 District Championship will be played this Thursday at 7:30 p.m. at Gooding High. Dietrich is the favorite team and will play ei- ther Richfield or Carey. The Wendell boys will be in American Falls this Thurs- day to play Dayton H.S. at 7 p.m. If they win, they will have one more play-in game on Saturday in Mountain Home to earn a spot in the State Tournament.
