Last year we had about70survivorsandcaregiversandthisyearwearehopingtohave100peoplecometothe Gooding County Fair-grounds that evening fora celebration of their sur-vivorship. From11to4eachdayyoucanlisten,freeofcharge,tothebestpoetsandmu-siciansintheWestperformthisunique-lyAmericanartform. The evening performances beginwithapre-showat6:15andthemainshow at 7:00 p.m. Suggested dona-tion for admission to the main showis$12.Asinyearspast,thiseventisafundraiserfortheAmericanLegion
andIdaho‘N’Heroes. On Saturday morning from 7 to 10,the Senior Center (located on the south end of the HagermanCity Park) is hosting a Community Break-fast. Cost of thebreakfastis$8.00. PeterJohnArrossaJr. Peter John Arrossa Jr., 70,a resident of Jerome, Idahopassed away March 10, 2015athishome. Pete was born to Peter andRosie Arrossa on January 16,1945inWendell,Idaho.Hewastheoldestofthreechildren.Hegrew up on a family dairy andsheep farm north of ShoshonewhereheworkedlonghourswithhisbrotherGeorgeandsisterGinacaringforcattleandsheep. Pete attended Shoshone High School where he was astarathleteholdingschoolrecordsinbothbasketballandfootball.Hegraduatedin1963andattendedIdahoStateUniversity.UponreturninghometoShoshone,hebeganworkingfortheBLMontheFireCrew.Duringthistime,healsoworkedforLieutenantGovernor,JackMurphyonhiscattleranch,wherePetedevelopedhiscowboyskillsandapassionforhorses.Pete’scareerwiththeBureauofLandManagement,spannedforover40years.Duringthistime,Peteworkedwithmanyamazinglifelongfriends. PetemarriedLindaCumminsonOctober30,1971andhadtwochildren,MontyandJamie.PeteandLindaraisedtheir family in North Shoshone on a small horse farm.Pete was an outstanding Chariot Racer, Quarter Horsetrainerandteamroper.Petewasproudofhischildren.Heenjoyed watching Jamie compete in high school sports.UponretirementfromtheBLM,PetelovedtravelingtheNorthwestwithMontyracinghorsesatvarioustracksandwas always the first in the winner’s circle. He was also pas-sionateaboutbiggamehuntingandcherishedthetimeshespenthuntingwithhisbrotherGeorge,closefriend,RonConklinandson-in-lawZachShetler.
