Dear St. Joseph School Families,
Our school year is off to a great start! Thank you, SJS families, for your diligence in utilizing the daily health
screening checklist—this is critical to keeping our school community healthy and continuing in-person learning.
Please see the updated version on page 2 and save this MDH document with important information. We are
grateful for your continued support, patience, and flexibility as we monitor and adjust processes and procedures
that benefit the health and safety of our students and staff. We encourage families to look at the most current
monthly calendar in each week’s Green Wave as changes occur
frequently.
Our St. Joseph School students are excelling at wearing masks, washing
hands frequently, and learning outdoors! GOD IS GOOD . . . ALL THE
TIME!
Morning Arrival and Afternoon Departure Update: Thank you for your
continued patience as we streamline our arrival and departure
procedures. Reminder: No buses on Wednesdays.
Morning Arrival: Students can begin entering the building at 7:55 a.m.
For morning car drop off, 4 cars can pull up at a time, which allows for a faster process. Thank you for using
caution and driving slowly as you exit the car line and proceed out of the parking lot. We have preschool
families dropping off at the church doors and St. Joe’s parishioners entering and crossing the lot for daily Mass at
this time. Our morning buses are now dropping off in the back of the building using the service road off of
Connemara. No cars may drop off in this zone—buses only.
Afternoon Departure: Early bus-students are dismissed at 2:05 (shuttle to Scott Highlands, Falcon Ridge, Valley
Middle, Dakota Hills, Blackhawk). Late bus-students are dismissed at 2:15 (shuttle to Rosemount Middle). Car
line dismissal begins at 2:20, and cars can pull up 4 at a time for loading. The students are doing a great job
listening for their car number and heading outside. Walkers and bike riders are dismissed at 2:20. ESC dismissal
is at 2:40. We are getting more efficient every day!
If you must drop off or pick up your child outside of the morning and afternoon carline times, you need to park in
the main parking lot, exit your vehicle, and walk across to the school sidewalk. There is a lot of traffic in the
morning and afternoon and students may not walk across the parking lot unattended. Thank you for your
cooperation!
Virtual Convocation:
Each Monday morning we come together as a school community for Convocation—this year we do this virtually!
During this time, we cover announcements, highlight the social justice teaching and “I can do all things through
Christ” focus for the month, celebrate student success stories, and recite our St. Joseph School Honor Pledge and
prayer to St. Joseph. Families can also watch from home via our St. Joseph School Rosemount Facebook account
or via our St. Joseph School YouTube Channel.
Sincerely,
Kelly Roche

Each school day, with few exceptions, we need volunteers to help monitor recess on the playground. In this role, volunteers (family members of students K - 8) assist school staff with supervision and help to maintain a
safe environment for the school children to play. Students love it when family members come in and show interest in their school day! Please see the Sign-Up Genius site to volunteer!

Did you know that St. Joseph School has a wish list? We do! Check it out! It
changes frequently!
All School Mass To begin the school year, our All
School Mass for students in grades K-8 will be on Thursdays at 9:40 a.m. Students will sit with their
grade level class only (no buddies) and space out in the pews. This will be a separate Mass from the
daily 8:30 Mass that is open to the public. We LOVE welcoming our
school parents and family members to school Mass, but at
this time for the health and safety of our school community, we are keeping attendance limited to St. Joseph School students and staff
only. Thank you for your continued prayers and
support! Mrs. Roche, Principal
K—8 families! Having problems logging in to your
Educate account? Let us know! The temporary passwords that were
used for Welcome Back Packets have expired
and need to be reissued.
St. Joseph School has a Lost & Found! Located in the office, we already have items
that need to find their way back home!
Please be sure to label your student’s items WITH A NAME & LAST INITIAL! This
ensures that they will get home!
Home & School Association (HSA) News & Events
Mark your calendar! Culver’s Night will be on
September 30 from 5p-8p at the Rosemount
location!
Are you interested in joining the
HSA Leadership Committee? This group leads
our school Home & School Association, planning the
school’s annual events. This is a great way to get to know other
parents and contribute to the events of our
school. Committee meets monthly and commitments can
be by Trimester or school year. Our first meeting is Tuesday, September 22,
4:30pm in Room 101. Please enter through the Church doors and wear your mask. All are welcome! Questions? Check out the position description or
email Sheila Swift.
Have you seen the QR codes that we are using this year for playground
volunteers and ESC pickup?
ESC Code
Playground
For Playground volunteers, volunteers
will scan the code upon arrival which will allow them to enter the time
that they arrive to volunteer for their shift.
For ESC pickup, families will sign the code when you arrived to pick up your child, you will fill out the time that you sign your child out and
your ESC fee for the day will be based on this time.

Sunday Readings and Backgrounds
Twenty fifth Sunday in Ordinary Time Reading I : Isaiah 55:6-9 Seek the Lord while he may be found.
• In the reading from Isaiah, God’s justice is measured by the demands of mercy.
• The prophet tells God’s people in exile that a return to their land is possible.
• Only in faith would the people be able to seek the Lord and turn from their evil ways. Reading II : Philippians 1:20c-24, 27a To me, life means Christ.
• The Letter to the Philippians was written when Paul was imprisoned.
• In today’s passage, Paul asks the Philippians to imitate Christ.
• Even in prison Paul was willing to continue working in the vineyard, knowing that his reward would be far greater than he could imagine.
Gospel : Matthew 20:1-16a The parable of the vineyard.
• Throughout the Gospel of Matthew, the author gives new interpretations to Jewish laws.
• Today’s parable shows the power and generosity of God, along with the need for human willingness.
• Jesus’ parable teaches that God is merciful to all
Activities of the Week Choose one of the following activities as a way to further reflect on the Sunday readings:
• To help your family celebrate the Generosity of God, before grace at meals, join hands and thank God for the ways in which God has entered and become part of your life. Thank God for the individual blessings each one has received and for the family blessings.
• As a game, count your family blessings. Sit in a circle and take turns naming one blessing you have from God. For an additional challenge, use the alphabet; begin with a gift that begins with “A,” then “B,” and so forth. See how long you can keep going.
• Practice generosity in your family. Take time to name and celebrate the gifts of each person in the family. What are ways we can encourage one another to develop our gifts?
• Sometimes people become jealous of the gifts of others. Talk about ways of handling feelings of jealousy. Have an open discussion about fairness in the family. Plan a family outing and spend the time enjoying one another’s company.
Information for the Family page is taken from the Lifelong Catechesis page of Our Sunday Visitor.
