Overview

The Digital Content Assembly Tool (DCAT) is web-based assembly software developed to create HTML SCOs by using a WYSIWYG (what you see is what you get) approach. Shareable Content Objects (SCOs) are small self-contained learning objects that can be deployed on a SCORM-compliant Learning Management System (LMS). SCOs are comprised of one or more pages, and a page is a predefined collection of gadgets displayed on a single navigation page within the SCO Player. Gadgets and approved page layouts preserve interaction design and functionality.

In the Digital Content Assembly Tool (DCAT), you can:

• Create a Master SCO from a root SCO if you are a lead content author

• Create an authored content object based on a Master SCO

• Duplicate an existing content object

A root SCO is a write-protected example content object that contains one or more HTML pages, which contain one or more gadgets. Root SCOs are created by the RIMA software development team based on requirements from the Crossline ID and UX teams. Root SCOs are product-specific and serve as the basis for creating Master SCOs. Only lead content authors will have the ability to create new Master SCOs.

While root SCOs are created by the RIMA Team, you can compose Master SCOs using an existing root SCO. The use of Master SCOs provides you with greater flexibility and fewer restrictions on the number and type of pages you can include in the SCO. For example, a Master SCO can include several consecutive multiple choice gadgets. Using Master SCOs lets you work with approved page sequences to meet predefined instructional goals for a product.

While some content will have to be replaced, the result is having the same SCOs in two different languages. Submit a new JIRA ticket to request re-assigning.
