Tree Canopy Restoration $$$

Project Title:Full Implementation of 30% Tree Canopy Restoration Initiative

Project Description:Investment in additional staff, contractors, trees and othernecessary materials to achieve and maintain at a minimumthe Miami-Dade County (MDC) Board of CountyCommissioners County-wide 30% tree canopy cover goal by2020. Currently the County’s tree canopy cover is 12% andestimations of labor and materials required to achieve the30% goal indicate that current resource commitments will notenable the County to meet this goal. Municipalities alsocontribute on their own to tree canopy cover and with thefunding of the project MDC can ensure that at a minimum theregion-wide 30% goal is met.
