Crispin and the Cross of Lead By Avi Review by: Allison Bohm In the beginning, Crispin's mother dies. In fact that's where it all starts. It also takes place in medieval England 1377 A.D. All goes downhill when he loses the one and only thing he loved. But when his mother died, he has even less. When people want to kill him for a crime he didn't commit, he flees Stromford his one and only home. On the way he meets very interesting characters and overcomes many obstacles. He even meets a friend, a chubby, red bearded man who becomes like a father Crispin never had. Dynamic characters and surprising twists make this book even more fun to read. It may be one of Avi's best books. This book was fun for me to read because it was so easy to get lost in that world. It makes you think you are following Crispin down that alley. I love all the characters and it makes you see them in your mind. This book

In the beginning, Crispin's mother dies.

This book is great for anyone who has ever wanted

to “run away from home.”
