Dear OLGC Families, Thank you for your support of our Fun Run fundraiser. We are 59.7 percent away from reaching our goal of $50,000. The students chose to have me duck taped to a wall and do all of their homework for a night when we achieve our goal. They also decided that if we far exceed our goal and reach $65,000, I will have my office on the roof for a day! It is fun to hear the excitement through the hallways and see the team comradery in each classroom. I hope you are able to join us on May 16th for the Fun Run (8:30-9:30 PreK, K,1st Grade, 9:30-10:30 2nd, 3rd, 4th Grades, 10:30-11:30 5th, 6th Grades, 1:30-2:30 7th, 8th Grades) Our tentative 2019-2020 school calendar is now available! In order to meet the AOD instructional minute requirements, we needed to adjust our school day hours. Please note that our school day will begin at 8:00 AM next school year. This means that students will be counted tardy after 8:00 AM. Students will enter the building starting at 7:50 AM. There will be two half days of instruction on November 13th and 14th to accommodate parent-teacher conferences. A school events calendar will be available this summer on our website. As we continue our strategic planning for next school year, we are in need of your feedback. Please take a few minutes to complete the following parent survey. Staff and students are also completing a survey during school. Thank you in advance for your honest feedback. Your parental feedback is essential to our continued improvement. We are in the process of putting together teams from the OLGC School for next season’s FIRST Program (aka. Lego Robotics Teams). This program is designed to include all grades, K-8. Below you’ll see a quick summary of the FIRST Program:Every year, the FIRST Program releases a Challenge, which is
based on a real-world scientific topic.Each Challenge has three parts: the Robot Game, the Project, and the Core Values. Teams of up to ten children, with at least two adult coaches, participate in
the Challenge by programming an autonomous robot to score points on a themed playing field (Robot Game), developing a solution to a problem they have identified (Project), all guided by the FIRST Core Values. Teams may then attend an official tournament.

Check out American Heritage Girls (AHG). AHG is a Christ-centered leadership and character development ministry. AHG is all about faith, service, earning badges, leadership, mentorship, and of course fun!
Girls in Kindergarten through eighth grade are able to join the troop. The Troop meetings are on Monday evenings.

1. What is the Fun Run?The Fun Run is a 9-day program and is this semester’s biggest fundraiser, taking place on May 16th. Families will be getting pledges for the laps their student runs at the Fun Run. Funds raised from this event go toward new classroom furniture (including whiteboards, bookcases, easels, rugs, and bean bag chairs) and resources (including a nonfiction magazine subscription and IXL Math subscription for every student)!
2. How can parents register their student(s)?First, parents log in or sign up on funrun.com. Then, parents can register their student as a participant on funrun.com by searching for the school by name.
3. How can students get pledges? Parents can help connect students to 10 different sponsors. Families can enter those pledges online at funrun.com
4. Will my student really run 30 laps? How big is the track?Yes, even Pre-kindergarteners! The Fun Run track is about 1/16th of a mile, 1/4 the size of a normal high school track. The average student will run 30-35 laps and will have a goal to run at least 30 laps to help their school. The most any student will be counted for is 35 laps.
5. Can students receive a prize for flat donations?Yes! All flat donations count toward pledges and are rounded by 30 (the average student will run over 30 laps). So, a $30 donation is the same as $1 per lap. A $60 donation is the same as $2 per lap, etc.
6. Can sponsors pay for pledges online?YES! Sponsors have the option to pay online and pay immediately. Only pledges that have an email address entered with the pledge can be paid online. Make sure sponsors know they should enter a valid email address. The day after the Fun Run event, sponsors will receive an email with payment options if they have not paid yet.
7. When is the pledge money due?Pledge money is due on May 23rd. Families have one week to collect their pledges after the Fun Run.
8. How is money collected?Families will call their sponsors to let them know how many laps their student ran. All students will get an envelope to organize cash and checks and bring back to school (if sponsors don’t pay online). All checks are made out to Our Lady of Good Counsel Parish School.
9. Why are we using FUNRUN.COM?The parent leadership team discerned possibilities for raising money to support our school and your classrooms. It was decided to have a Crusader Fun Run knowing how much the students and families would enjoy a healthy, fun, memorable experience that will build community. It was also in perfect alignment to our student voted school-wide theme for this year! It was decided to use an online platform in order to assist with the money management and expand our donor base. In addition, it provides convenience in being able to see the status of our efforts instantly. The company who created the online platform is called Boosterthon. We are ONLY using their online platform. We are hosting our own Crusader Fun Run. With using this service, we are charged 10 percent of money raised; however, schools raise more than 70 percent on a Fun Run using an online platform. Every student will be encouraged to register on FUNRUN.com . Please consider using this online platform to promote our school fundraiser. Our school will also accept donation checks made directly to OLGC Parish School.
